I was pleasantly surprised with the ones I got back in March. They’re real nice. The one you have is the first I’ve noticed to have a variation on it. I’ve not seen the blade with D2 stamped on it before so these may be a new batch going out.

Honestly it's probably not a new batch, they probably are just stamping the blades D2 and still using the original blade steel. D2 it like the go to steel for clone manufacturing companies to list as their blade steel.

It ain't a clone tbh, nobody is gonna look at it and say : "mmmmmh, this monarch v1 is looking great !". It doesn't look like the original design, they don't try to make a copy of it. (no hate, just my opinion)

No, it's almost 1 to 1 of a monarch clone. The only thing different is that it has a zen nipple instead of pinsless design

@@1badspeed6 not at all… the handles are made aluminium and are curved on the inside of the handle, with weird hole paterns

@@1badspeed6having an extremely similar blade does not make a knife a clone. Look how many folders and fixed blades use the full flat drop point blade design that is heavily associated with ESEE knives and the RAT from Ontario knife co. Nobody is calling them clones in the knife/folder world. It’s ONLY the child infested balisong community obsessing over what is and isn’t a clone in weird cases where the knives are incredibly different in design and materials choice. The concave handles alone feel absolutely alien the moment you grab this thing, the artistic design on the handles is different in every way, they use a different pin system, the materials used in the handle are different, the grind on the blade isn’t even true 1:1 as the monarch is hollow ground at the recurve + has an (ugly) sharpening choil. To me this is no different than folders taking inspiration from another folders blade design and then redesigning the handle to be of others liking. The monarch would cost you like $1200 for crying out loud. That is not in the average hardworking bill paying American’s budget and there’s nothing cringe about purchasing what you are able to afford. In the $40 range this thing is one of the hardest hitting nicest flipping most well toleranced live blades you can own. There is absolutely no shame in owning that. The Bali community has for a long time now seemingly been centered around a weird group think popularity contest where people will attack *anyone* for the chance to get noticed by their favorite makers or community members. It’s sad to see so many parrot others views without taking time to critically think and form a personal opinion which often leads to scenarios that I would consider to be bullying. I hope everyone here can find it in themselves to love their neighbor and let go of predetermined judgements and instead associate with others based on their character. The world would be a much better place and it starts one soul at a time.

I have the murdered out version, and it has jimping. the handles are pretty neat, I saw something like it as a trainer on aliexpress a long time ago. it's my best tuned bali, but my most terrifying bali as well.

this is my first live blade i got here in canada, do you think its good to learn harder combos? hard but not imposible to get higher end live blades here, should i stick with this for abit or get a higher end like machinewise? i know but big jump but i got the money so not a probblem

I would say learn on this first. Grasp the beginner concepts and get to an intermediate level before upgrading. Also check out the thomas balisong aragon, it's also on Amazon and can be shipped to you cheaper than a machinewise. Watch my review of it if you want

It would be better of it had speed channels and jimping on the bottom of the handles, but it's decent for 40 bucks.

Honestly not in good faith. It's far to slippery due to lack of jimping and the fact that it's anodized aluminum. A good first libe blade should be (in my opinion) raw titanium or something with g10 scales.

A couple of different things it could be. 1 loose pivots 2undersized bushings 3oversized bushings 4 just has poor tolerances 5 uneven blade surface grind Watch a couple videos about how to tune floating bushings they are easier than regular bushings. You might need a micrometer tho.

Honestly I'm not really that good or smooth. But a good rule of thumb Is slow is smooth and smooth is fast. The more consistent you are the better your movements will be
