Alveopora - The Other Flower Pot Coral

I know these are classified as a more difficult corral to care for. I had been out of saltwater for almost 18 years. I started back up with softies. Then I saw this small hunk of bright green waving Stony Coral. I had to have it. It was a green Alveopora. I have had this Coral for over a year now and have never had one problem with the specimen. It is growing quite well. Enjoyed the video as I prefer to listen to your advice as you are so complete when covering a Coral. I love this Coral and classify it as one of my easy keepers right along side frogspawn and Hammers.

I have a smaller frag of this in my tank and its doing amazing so far, i love this coral and i feed them about once a week and mine is starting to grow back around the skeleton from where it was fraged! Love these videos! Keep up the good work!

Another name for this coral is jewel coral. They are really tough coral actually and mine has survive in alot of tough condition such as poor water quality, anemone attack and also copperband attack. It will bleached out but will fight for its life. Good job than on this video.

Nice. I've always found Alveoporas to be very hardy unlike Gonis which like you say can be hit & miss. Not all Alveopora grow in a ball shape like Goniopra though, some are branching which can look like amazing trees. Theres also a really small short polyp species that are usually neon green which often grow in a fairly flat plate like form & are often mistaken for Montipora :)

I have a 45 gallon aio and have been hosting a thriving alveopora colony for many months now that I recently propagated. Tank uses a red sea 90 led, and red sea pro salt; for dosing I use alk, calcium, and magnesium. Hanna checker for the magnesium, api reef master kit for calcium and alk.

The are one of the most reactive, but sometimes they tolerate contact like you saw from the fish in this video crowding their space when I fed.

My frag seems to be doing good so far. I feed my tank every single day a mixture of ,2drops of Reef Nutrition's Roti feast as well as oyster feast. 2 drops of each. Mind me my tank is a 2.6 gallon mixed reef pico tank.

Flowerpot needs Manganese to help them thrive thus you need to find a salt with high manganese or dose by hand
