Alvin Lee- gtr, voc; Mick Hawksworth- bass; Tom Compton- drums
from the album: Rocket Fuel (1978)
Alvin says… this was by Ten Years Later with Tom Compton on drums and Mick Hawksworth on bass and is from the album ‘Rocket Fuel’ from 1978. This was when I got back into playing heavy Rock’n’Roll after the ‘In Flight’ era. It’s a good raving number and Tom was a dynamic drummer. He used to kick me in the pants and lift me in the air. He was like Animal in the Muppets with a mad look in his eyes. He had a huge drum kit and it was a bit like going back to the TYA kind of high-energy stuff. We used to play this as the opening number in our set.

¿Ten years later? You wanted to say "Ten years AFTER"

Hi Alex. "Ten Years Later" was Alvin's break from "Ten Years After". The only two studio albums recorded under the name "Ten Years Later" was "Rocket Fuel and "Ride On"

Only for boogie woogie merchants.....Alvin's jig was up, yet he stubbornly kept on churning out second hand 'blues rock'..It will remain one of rock's great mysteries how this once great band called 'Ten Years After' took such a nose dive around '74....

Around this time he was still making a good living and having a good time with the basics, with a new and sharp 3 piece with albums like this and the tours that continued. Simple as that really, I think. I gather that he got over trying to change or conquer the world by being the one of the most advanced, or most successful. Left that stuff to the likes of Rush. But you know..Alvin Lee. Soul man and the guitar. You can like this era, or think it's mediocre and a let down compared to the best of TYA. But you got a lot to choose from when it comes to all the big things he achieved in music over a long career. RIP
