On a morning in a coffeehouse a year ago, I heard "Archie, Marry Me" for the first time and walked right up to the baristas and asked, "Who is that group?" They spelled out the name, spacing each v carefully so I'd know it wasn't a w. They could see I had google in my eyes, as I just _had to know_ who this band was. That day, I became a fan for life.

Red Planet is the best song on the album for sure. Archie, Marry Me gets you listening to it, and Red Planet makes you play the damn thing over and over and over again. Its my favorite Vinyl to listen to.

Keegan McGinnis I agree with you. Actually, Red Planet has one of the bests english lyrics i have ever seen! and that melody though, I can't even put it in words what this whole song is. I just have to say thanks to Alvvays for this amazing song, and also for the whole album.

I got to see Alvvays at the Fillmore in SF recently. The set sounded great. Even better live than recorded. I Loved that everyone got a poster after the show. What a great value for entertainment! I hope Your band keeps rocking and growing. Need to be on some soundtracks, for sure. The ladies' two voices together are fabulous!

Hamilton, I also super got that vibe dude, thats sad, more than half of her record is beautiful. there are 2 or 3 that i dont like but isnt bad. If its because of the people in the crowd, thats really sad, its normal that many composers have songs that they dont like as much but not all of their music....

As a musician I know that after writing, rehearsing, recording, overdubbing, mixing and then performing live a song over & over, one can get quite easily bored with your own music and want to move on. Of course the process from writing to releasing a record is VERY long, so by the time you all think a track is "new", to the people involved it's most definitely not. So maybe it's that. ;-) I just read jet black's comment - Yep!

Maybe singing in front of hundreds or thousands of people is a touch more daunting than being in the presence of one interviewer, one soundperson and one camera-operator.......... But, of course, I am answering on her behalf, with a whole lot of assumption, as she will probably never see and answer your question, so I hope I have helped in some meager way...... ;-)

Maybe she's tired or bored or feels obligated to do this or doesn't like interviews or the interviewer or the questions or the cameraman or people or wasn't in the mood for it or maybe she's just not a very jolly person in unfamiliar company. There are many reasons to be serious or unhappy. Probably you will never know unless you ask her, if she remembers her feeling at that exact moment, of course. :-)

Love Alvvays and Molly Rankin, hate this interview. It seems so "meh", forced even. It's not a damn "casting couch" video, put some feeling in your delivery.
