I crocheting 64 years ago. I couldn’t crochet for about twenty some years because of having the crippling form of arthritis. When I was crocheting before the arthritis; after the first ten years no one knew how to do what you’ve taught in this video. I’ve always had to cover the seam with flowers for little girls. I did different types of cute stuff for the boys. I avoided making adult beanies all together. I wish I had thought of doing an online search before I made the 200 beanies I made for charity in 2019. You tutorial was wrest. Thank you very much for what you do. Joylynn

Did exactly what you said on the video. The increase rounds are straight. Once i start on the other rounds the line starts to curve quite a bit. It would be helpful if you at least showed the round after the increases.

Thank you for the great explanation on how to keep the seam straight when doing the increases. However once the increases are finished the seam on my beanies then slants! I’d love to know how you avoid this happening .

Roberta Stewart, I have the same issue with the slanting issue after the increases are done.
@robertastewart20832 жыл бұрын
@@kathybryer6438 if you read the comments it seems as though we aren’t alone with the slanted seam problem! I think the seam stays straight if you turn the work after each round. Also I have seen an explanation on Sheepishly Sharing on how to avoid the slant. It involves slip stitching to the top of the chain on one round and then slip stitching to the first stitch on the next round. Thing is you have to concentrate and remember what you did on the previous round! Good luck with your endeavours !

I'm doing as you say. But it still won't go straight, so it made me think - do you count your ch2 as a stitch and slip stitch to that or do you ch2 DC in the same stitch and then slip stitch into the dc instead of the ch2??? Thanks in advance!

I count my stitches depending on the round. So round 3 has a 3 stitch repeat (DC, 2DC is 3 stitches total), round 4 is a 4 stitch repeat (DC, DC, 2DC = 4 stitches total, round 5 DC,DC,DC,2DC = 5 stitches total) its an easy way to know where ur up to just by counting ur rounds. Plus, so I don't lose where I'm at, I count as I go, eg for round 5 is a 5 stitche repeat so I count it out loud as I go, always putting the last 2 stitch increase in the last stitch - so I count out 1, 2, 3, 4-5 (4 &5 in same stitch). Round 6 is a 6 stitch repeat (DC,DC,DC,DC,2dc = 6 stitches total) so I count it as 1,2,3,4, 5-6 (the last 2 stitches, so stitches 5&6 in round 6, 6&7 in row 7, 7&8 in row 8 etc etc.....so counted out each round would be 5= 1,2,3,4&5 same stitch (ur increase) row 6 = 1,2,3,4,5&6 in same stitch/ur increase. I hope this makes sense lol

Hi Nikki,thanks very much,for this tutorial ! Is amazing for the top of the hat ...I bought the pattern, thinking that it was a detail of the part that does not have increases in the hat, but I see that you do not weave it in the video tutorial, and do not put images of that part, in the pattern of sale. You could make a second part, please, thank you very much! Nice day!

I actually have a lot of hats and beanies that are very warm! The warmest are the ones using the waistcoat stitch (similar to the single crochet, but looks like knitted). I have many of them. All of my hat patterns are here: www.nickishomemadecrafts.com/category/crochet/crochet-patterns/hats-beanies/ And a waistcoat stitch hat I would recommend is this one: www.nickishomemadecrafts.com/swirly-heart-hat-pattern/ Enjoy :-)

Hi Nicki, thanks for this great tutorial. I've been so frustrated with my skew seams! I also have Dawn's problem, though.When I'm doing the straight rounds for the body of the beanie, how do I prevent that seam from going skew? Some patterns say that the ch1 or ch2 act as the first st? I'd love your advice please :)
