Blue Mage can be a fun experience for a streamer since the usual problem is that since you can't use the regular solo queue you have to wait a while. If you're a streamer with people who will directly join your party it's just a question of how much you like collecting stuff. And by stuff I mean cool spells.

While I have played all casters pretty extensively (including Blue Mage), I think I'll be keeping an eye on the next caster job they'll announce for likely the final fanfest. Yoshi-P has definitely alluded to it before, and there's already the prevailing theory of what it is, but I'll keep from spoiling the surprise for those who want it.

As a SMN main I recommend my class! Not only is it an pretty simple class to play for those not used to casting classes but at later levels we help out the party with spells (like a party-wide power boost) and summon bonuses. Plus we get a reviving spell super early on as Arcanist so it will be a help for healers if they did an oopsie and ended up fainting on the floor. That and Pheonix mode does give them a boost to healing at Lv 80+ on top of power boosts and get a healing over time defense spell that can be put on anyone, but I highly recommend doing it on the Main tank or the person who needs the boost when they are struggling and if anyone is alright, yourself if you're struggling! I figured this little trick out while doing some later content with my friends! My tanks and healers appreciated me for that! Bahamut mode is basically more attacks but once you hit 80 then it leads to Pheonix mode! ...I think I like Summoner too much! XD Can't wait to see what the new caster class that's coming in Dawntrail is going to be like! (I'm still in the camp that's saying it's going to be artist/painter/pictomancer as the hint shirt Yoshi-P was wearing is of the TMNT and the turtles are named after famous renaissance artists!)

@@LaccreVT Glad you like it! Here's a few more tips for you; one set of spells are for single targets while the other is for groups, giving the team some help with crowd control, namely the catastrophe spells and tri-disaster. (Awesome names, I know!) Reading the tool tips will help if you're confused and there is 1 rule to keep in mind; Always keep your carbuncle out for the elemental spells as well as a barrier for yourself once you get the spell! ^_^

Summoner and Scholar level up at the same time, if you haven't unlocked scholar yet it'll be the same level as your summoner. Square said that they'll never do 2 classes like that again cause it was hell to code. Scholar can be worth learning so you're not waiting as long for the queues. Blue Mage is fun, it's the only class that levels fast from farming regular mobs. And when you unlock its tank and healing skills you can farm mobs 10 levels above yours as long as you're careful. Not to mention with all its skills and spells it's literally all roles in 1 class. Most of them are from specific mobs and bosses and the rest is from our quest givers friends. And a few of those are locked behind the class story quests. The story for BLU is ok, but it's still fun and you can use the party finder for groups who are also trying for certain spells. The pelvic thrust teleport it gets always makes me giggle 😂

Should also mention for smn and sch they get special quests for something cool at level 50 back in Limsa if you haven't already gotten them. They're not necessary, but are fun to have

Hello again, back once again with your WoW comparisons for easy FF translations! :D Thankfully casters are the easiest ones to break down and explain. Black Mage: Your a proc hungry WoW mage until you hit level 60, at which point it all changes and you become a slave to your tsundere girlfriend Eno-chan (Enochian). And before someone says it, yes I know you start dating Eno-chan at 56, but it doesn't become serious till 60 when you learn fire 4 >_

I have every job at lvl cap (except BLU cause i suck at it) but out of the magic dps to be honest red mage was my go to until endwalker dropped where I spend about equal time as red mage or summoner. I appreciate the summoner rework a lot cause I actually feel like a summoner not “place dots and wait until you need to refresh them by shooting the enemy with some variation of the word ruin”

While I do love summoner's gameplay, and specially the story with Y'mhitra ❤, I really have a huge soft spot for red mage! @@LaccreVT the rotation is pretty straightforward of swapping between fire and ice, as long as you are standing still. Black mage is one of the classes that does REALLY well if you know the fights well enough to know when you can start blasting fireballs

Blackmage really is sloooooooooow feeling to lvl up. You essentially cast the same spell for 90% of your time from lvl 1-60 (or whatever level you get ice/fire 4.)
@Asako_Gaming Жыл бұрын
Fire4 at level 60 baby. Until then it's Fire1 spam. Hope they address all the jobs at low level for the new expansion. It's probably the most off putting thing having 3 buttons until 50.
@LaccreVT Жыл бұрын
really? so just damn slow...comlplicated??? or just slow
@Asako_Gaming Жыл бұрын
Pretty much the rotation you learn at level 4 doesn't change until level 60. It's the only job in the game so heavily restricted. Sure there are other moves inbetween, but at level 60 the entire rotation gets it's first change. It's an issue with a lot of the jobs feeling slow for too long, BLM just deals with it until literally HW level cap.@@LaccreVT
@Gwydion_Wolf Жыл бұрын
@Laccreplays what Asako said. It's not 'complicated', more 'oversimplified'. It's to far in the opposite direction from complicated. From lvl 1 to lvl 60, your essentially casting fire all the time, with thunder thrown in between casts of fire and ice, to regain your mana, then back to fire. Each consecutive cast of fire increases it's damage, and mp cost, up to 3x increase. From lv 1-60, your time is spent casting thunder 1 or 2, then fire 1 till out of mp. Then casting ice to regain mp, then thunder, then back to fire.
@Gwydion_Wolf Жыл бұрын
Just a quick Addition. The way Fire works is that for every time you cast it, you get a 'ball' floating around you (the number goes from 1-3) to corrospond with the 'additive' effect given (for fire, its more damage + more MP cost, for Ice, its faster MP Regen). Post lvl 30-40? or so? One of your Fire spells gets a 'bonus trait' to it, that makes you get all 3 fire 'orbs' at once. From that point on, you'll basically be casting thunder or thunder 2, then using quick-cast to cast the fire-spell that gives you all 3 orbs at once, then spamming Fire 1 again till out of MP, then ice, thunder, back to the quickcast. It's not till 60 when you get Fire/Ice IV that your rotation gets a slight change to it to 'liven things up' a bit. You'll be still doing a Fire/Ice rotation, but it'll be slightly more complicated at that point :)

I'll preface this by noting that while I play every caster I definitely have a summoner bias. I don't hate Black Mage at all but it's exhausting listening to BLM mains demanding adoration for their choice to be the most selfish dps job. (I've really never heard of any SAM demanding everyone else adjust for them to the degree the average BLM does) The thing with Red Mage is that while getting Dualcast to grant lots of instant casts is genuinely a cool mechanic, it REQUIRES you to actually cast a spell to get the buff. From an optimization perspective, you end up wanting to juggle your cooldowns to try and make sure you're always getting the upgraded / proc versions of your Black or White mana spells so you don't have to use Jolt. From the 'is this fun to play' perspective, I personally find it a little constricting that you can easily find yourself in a position where you suddenly need to move but it's when you need to be using one of your cast-time actions. Either that or get better at juggling when to use your cooldowns more for instant casts rather than optimizing procs.
