Brian your daughters are the best kids ever. Congrats to Penny for her book. I haven't heard of a short corner before so this is a new idea for me. I like that this allows for more engagement with the audience than focus on the handling of the cards.

That brand/type of punch is a very good tool for gaff making. The small punch is nearly identical to the 3mm round on new cards... making it perfect for rerounding corners on a DIY stripper deck, or on DIY end/side shorts.

I know a really great way of marking those decks (both red and blue). I've tested the marked cards on a bunch of people and nobody knew they were marked. In fact even after I told the person they were marked they couldn't spot how they were marked.

this is a trick designed to be shown to magicians. the way he shuffled at the start it at least appeared to me that he was keeping the top card the same. this action threw me off the scent of what he was actually doing.

I'm not sure if it's accurate to say they don't know *any* magic before coming onto the show. For one thing, Brian calls Penny a 'relative non-magician', suggesting that she knows at least a little bit. For another, her guess was that Alex had retained the card while everyone else was shuffling (which was my first thought as well); it's certainly possible for someone who knows nothing about magic to think that, but it seems more likely to come from someone who is already familiar with some of the literal tricks of the trade.

I need your help! I just got home from the bar, my friend just blew my mind with a simple bar trick, can you explain to me how he did it? So the setup is easy, he took a normal drinks coaster and ripped it into 4 pieces, he then put them on the table into the quarters and closed his eyes, like really closed, like put his head under the table closed and asked me to pick a quarter, and after, he then predicted correctly which quarter I picked, EVERY SINGLE time, did it like 15 times until I got frustrated and left. Please help, I cant sleep.

I thought it was a stripper deck and was sure Penny discombobulated it when she went to riffle shuffle it. The most magical thing was how Alex grabbed the right card and made it fly out of the deck, but that must be a trade secret or at least an advanced skill that won't be covered here...

@@theplatitudefromouterspace Yes, but riffles don't mean the two halves have to combine in opposite orientations. You can see around 4:56 where Penny is turning them so they'll stay the same way.
