All things are possible for one who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” They're referring to this. The father asks Jesus to help the unbelief in his own heart and make it so he believes. Its kind of pointing at the very natural inclination of the human heart to not believe that God can do miracles like saving a person by Grace or healing the sick. The Father in the story tells Jesus "if you can" heal my son. He knew who Jesus was as is the reason he brought his son to Jesus. Yet, he didnt believe that there was much hope that Jesus could heal him. Jesus is God. He can do anything. We often dont believe that because we think God isnt doing what we want him to at the time we declare it. The truth is that we are not God. We are limited humans with a small perspective on life. God see's the big picture and is "Always Good" The father likely felt this and assumed that if God didnt heal his son earlier, maybe he cant do it. This of course, is not true. God promises meaning in everything we go through pleasant or painful. :) hope that cleared up the reference. Also sorry for the ramble lol. Have a great week!

What a beautiful and encouraging song. I'm a new Andrew Peterson fan, and I just made the connection that's been in the back of my mind. I mean this as a total compliment...Andrew is like the male inspirational version of Mary-Chapin Carpenter. Obviously not her blues club songs, but her amazing introspective and tender songs. They share that incredible literary phrasing. Andrew is such a gift to the world.

Andrew Peterson thank you so much for your reply. It made me feel "seen" today. I am a retired English teacher who was caregiver to his parents in their last years. When my mother passed, I felt God's presence gentle her from my life. That moment brought me back to relationship with my Lord and Savior, but I still battle the loneliness of not having my own family. Some days I feel invisible. But not today. With each new song I discover, I give thanks and thanks to God for your work here on this side of heaven.
