@bloodyjasonmask3721 GNR & Bon Jovi might be on par with each other for the late 1980s. Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet sold 28 million Albums in 1986, the next year (1987) GNR's Appetite for Destruction sold 30 million albums, & THEN the following year (1988) Bon Jovi's New Jersey sold 18 million ralbums. Between these 2 bands they had the highest record sales for a rock album from 1986-1988.
@jp38132 жыл бұрын
@@jasonmistretta4295 Also gotta mention Def Leppard b/c Hysteria was a gigantic hit as well, which was the long-awaited sequel to 1983's monstrous Pyromania. Plus U2 w/ The Joshua Tree. The competition was fierce back then, and that's only for the bands. The solo artists were also on a roll. Although we gotta remember that sales have continued to accumulate all over the world throughout the decades. Hence, it's not like movie box office where earnings are most often frozen in a specific year. I believe Slippery When Wet was announced as the best-selling record of 1987 in America, while George Michael's Faith was the US top seller in 1988.

The album ''New Jersey'' was supposed to be a double-album. Songs were already written for two discs. Desmond Child, the genius songwriter behind their biggest hits (''You Give Love a Bad Name'', ''Livin' On a Prayer'', ''Bad Medicine'', ''Born To Be My Baby'') wrote plenty of tunes for that album just as good as ''Livin' On A Prayer''. All of them are now obtainable on KZbin as demos (''Love Is War'', ''Backdoor To Heaven'', ''Full Moon High'', ''Rosie'', ''Does Anybody Fall In Love Anymore? ''). Some of those demos were given to other artists (Cher, Kane Roberts, Richie Sambora on his solo album). All that to say that whenever you listen to Bon Jovi in the 80s (86-88), you almost always have to say a big thank you to Desmond Child.

Please listen to more Bon Jovi! This band is very near and dear to my heart as a close friend of mine who lost his life in the line of duty in 2005 was a huge fan of the band and was a part-time songwriter because of them. He’s been gone almost 18 years now but I still miss him every day. Jon’s song Blaze of Glory and the band’s song Thank You For Loving Me were played at his funeral. He had just gotten engaged over Christmas right before he was killed.

I don't think it's my right to mess with those songs, to change them or alter them in a way that would steal from the memories that people have attached to them. The New Jersey Album this track came off was fantastic from start to finish. It also made Bon Jovi even more popular than they were after Slippery when wet. The endless touring for them put them in a place where they needed a break from one another and we wouldnt get another Bon Jovi album until 1992. Jon did have more public success with the Young Guns 2 soundtrack in 1990 where he played with some of the industries biggest names and legends. Some of his Bon Jovi band mates played on some of the tracks along with Elton John, Jeff Beck, and Little Richard. David Bryan (Rashbaum) is a phenomenal keyboard player. Bon Jovi wouldn't be the same without him. He is classical trained (with a Juliard professor), and dropped out of college when Bon Jovi was signed. He has written and scored Broadway musicals. Bon Jovi called him first to ask him to stay with the band once they were signed. Jon and Ritchie Sambora get so much acclaim but David Bryan is the secret ingredient to the Bon Jovi sound. He played on every album.
