The Water Test is the funniest, in fact the most funny thing I've seen!

that is true, it is the minerals within common water that make a conductive solution.

Windows Phone is fantastic. Seeing it in motion makes you understand that these tiles serve a purpose. It is a function-based OS, both the design and functionality goes throughout all apps. Once you realize what this means in practice you simply can't go back to Android/iOS. Like Windows for PC, Android and iOS are just launchers to run isolated applications. Windows Phone is so much more, add the speed and (power-)efficiency of the OS and it just offers an unrivaled experience.

It's the small amount of salt in the water that allows for conductivity. The salt separates into ions (Such as Na+ and Cl-). Without these ions (a.k.a. 100% pure water), you don't get conductivity.

That's because when it fell off of his car it bounced on the corner. The Lumia 900 didn't fare too well in drop tests when the screen hit the ground.

I'd like to know that as well. I really don't think 20 minutes was long enough, it'd take far longer to dry it out.

This phone went through more severe challenges than every other phone before. It got put in 200 degrees in the freaking oven, dropped off the top of a moving car, twice, freaking drove a nail into wood, and didn't get a chance to dry off. "I kept it in the bag for the last... 20 minutes..." -__-

Microsoft Announced Windows Phone 8 before July. They already said that it wasn't getting WP8. So it was obsolete even if it was shot in July.

Let me add that on the water test, Nokia lumia take the plunge on the actual pool so obviously the pressure of water is a lot lot higher compared to a small bowl of water with S3 and iPhone. Again pretty much of a fair iCNET torture test! iCNET the imedia partner!

of course with mine I broke the screen twice, on two phones. The first time was pretty expected, I closed my car's hood on it, total accident, but the second time it just fell off a bar and smashed. I haven't replaced it yet because of my bad luck.

If you know your phone is not watertight and it gets wet, then: 1. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT attempt to turn it on! It's almost guaranteed to fry if you do 2. disconnect the power source - battery. Too bad some phones have built in battery 3. let it dry at least 24 hours, if possible, covers open 4. then and only then try to turn it on In case of this phone he did everything to kill it with the water. Every non-watertight phone would die.

I wouldn't want Windows Phone to look like Android so I'm talking OS. The design goes more than just the start screen with most of the Apps following the Type face UI. it makes for a more cohesive feel on the phone. You may be able to make your start screen look like WP but good luck doing that across your Apps, etc.

Without the sim card slot, were water can go in much easier, and trying to turn it on so many times without properlly drying.... 20 minutes in rice, really? That's also not enough, molly usually leaves like 2/3 days. Still, it was a good show.

If electronic devices like phones are heavily exposed to water, do not turn them on but instead immediately remove the battery. If the water didn't kill it, you certainly destroy its circuits with a short by attempting to turn it on. Also, I highly doubt 20min in rice is enough to let all water remains evaporate and be soaked up by it.

MS have done a lot but I'm fairly sure that things would have progressed a great deal to the point where things weren't too far off from what we have now. Things might look a bit different but MS just got in there early with what they did. If they hadn't done that then other people would have done it at some point.
