I've gotten a run of unfixable stuff like this lately. It really brings down the mood. That feeling you get with a successful repair is the best thing. :)
@tinkmarshinoАй бұрын
Do don't get yourself down brother.. use these times as encouragement to spur yourself on! You are capable, Now do the work!. If you love this stuff then just into it lad.. find out what can be done to fix these impossible ones.. if the customer gives up on it and you can get it cheap grab it by the though and pound it into submition.. It may cost a bit of money and certainly a bit of time.. but if you are deliberate and slow trying your best to actually fix the darn thing. then when you are done working or not you come out a winner. Carry on brother.. learn to be better than the master.. that is the goal of every student..

That's about 0.6W of heat, usually no problem picking that up on a thermal camera. Unless the heat is being dissipated by a large component (like a CPU or something). Even then you can still confirm this - just cover the device with a blanket and wait 2 minutes before thermal imaging.

Thank you Sorin for everything. Every day I learn from your videos and I don't go a day without studying your repairs. I work with electronics repair, more precisely with laptops and desktops, but I always learn a lot from your channel I live in Brazil in the city of Santos, but my soul is linked to the United Kingdom and other places in the world. Thank you for everything and congratulations on your commitment and dedication to everyone

The general rule of 25V on the gates ,is it for all PC main rails (non Mac) or for specific boards and brands like Toshiba

How's that atten? Thinking about aixun H314, either that or atten, definately not quick.

I love the Atten hot air station. Perhaps the only thing I would change is to make the hose slightly longer. I made a couple additions (DIY accessories) to mine a month or two ago. It's in my short videos on my channel if you want to see.

For the first time in this channel i see shorted MOSFET with 160ohm resistance between gate and source. Usually the short is zero ohms

Just a thought -> if the real time clock in chipset is shorted, can the line be disconnected and some RTC emulator connected to it? If he problem is only with the shorted RTC, and the rest of the chip-set is dead. I know it's a long shot, but maybe worth trying.
@ragilsp2164Ай бұрын
what resistance value of this dead chipset Sorin? thanks

@james.8985Ай бұрын
What voltage should be at the gate?
@viniciusvbf22Ай бұрын
Higher than 19V - usually 25V IIRC.
@Rodox2k10Ай бұрын
It depends on the type of Mosfet you have. For N-type, IIRC you should get 6V when measuring the gate against the source. When you're measuring the gate against the ground of the board, you should get 25V.

Hello Sorin from Sydney. Dynabook laptop. Questions generated. 1. N channel MOSFET (8036 Ou) at PCB point P05 D59 19.4v -18.7v remove and replace? Could laptop work without that MOSFET? 2. Resistor= 169 ohms next to the reset button. Remove and replace? Could laptop work without that resistor? Thankyou 🌏😎
@yeahright9014Ай бұрын
1. No. Well, yes, but the other MOS will blow up very quick. The gates are together. You can't expect the remaining one to pick up the slack, which is why Sorin replaced it. 2. Yes, but why? Engineer didn't put it there for fun.

Can anyone explain to me how the voltage on the psu dropped from 19v to 7v when he pushed current into the battery?
@piccoloijoАй бұрын
IMHO, when you give a voltage between Gate to Source it's better not exceed 6 V

Such poor design. Rather, intelligent design, for manufacturer to force customer to buy new product. MOSFET fails, takes out the chipset...
