It’s honestly strange looking back just how much this game revived the Spider-Man multiverse idea, sure before that we had the 90’s animated series, but this game went all in on the premise which prompted Slott’s Spider-Verse, which prompted the comics Spider-verse, which Prompted Into the Spider-verse, which prompted Spider-Man No way home. 10-year-old me loved ultimate Spider-Man season 3 for this very reason. Getting introduced to Madame web for the first time and meeting all of the different Spider-Man characters was such a mind-blowing experience that pretty much expose me to the concept of the multiverse theory, mentally preparing me for things like Rick and Morty, and The flash on the CW just so I could be ready for Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War before anyone else. As well as CW's Legends of tomorrow and Doctor Who so that way I could be prepared for Loki on Disney plus and then Far From Home leading into No Way Home. What a time to be human and alive, the world is finally waking up to what reality is. 5D consciousness has never been more attainable

Considering the fact that I've been in love with All things Spider-Man ever since the age of five, I'd say that I've dedicated enough of my life to marvel and now Disney to where I don't care if I pre-ordered IMAX movie tickets for no way home because it's going to be the best birthday present I've ever had, we don't get a lot of things to care about but truly nothing comes close to the enjoyment and fulfillment I get from watching things as mind-blowing and awe-inspiring as into the spider-verse. If I had followed my dream upon immediately graduating high school at the age of 18 and pursued an education at full sail University, I could have been animating big Blockbuster Hollywood movies by this point in my life. I turn 23 on December 18th and I honestly never thought I would make it this far. I'm going to get blazed before I walk into the theater because I have reserved seating so I get to show up half an hour early and get high off of Delta 8 in my car because it's finally legal everywhere and I have never had more of a reason to be alive. Tripping on shrooms and other psychedelics is a beautiful thing my friends, I believe the world would be a better place if everyone would be able to just let go every now and again. Expand your mind and focus on what's important.

There's a lot we don't know But we know that we shouldn't give up. . What are we doing? . Are the atoms we share in multiple realities? Is an atom a set unit within our reality? Watched this at random, and so glad I did. I never expected so much justice to be done to this game, it's more often brushed off and I'm glad you instead gave the time to both analyze it for its strengths and shortcomings, as well as point out its relevancy as a Spider-Man title with the various references and callbacks. I'd love to see you also cover Edge of Time. It's not as good as this title, but I think still memorable in its effort and I never would have thought anyone could give it a fair lookover before seeing this video. I feel like your consistent reference to the game's similarities between Spider-Man Noir and Batman: Arkham Asylum's gameplay detracts from it somewhat -- for some clarity, the way games are developed it would have been impossible for one studio to have ripped from another. They may be incredibly similar, but at the time Arkham Asylum released, Shattered Dimensions would have been well into its testing phase and well-past a state where changes dramatic enough to purposefully bring elements from Batman into the game would be almost impossible without releasing a buggy, unfinished mess.

Having not played this game and seeing the earlier sections with Spider Man Noir, I said to myself "Wow, it does remind me a lot of Arkham Asylum but I could see it being plausible that these two companies came to convergent stealth systems" after seeing your comment. As soon as I saw the Mysterio level on balance with the other similarities, that stretched the my suspension of disbelief out the window. I mean look at it, come on! That's beyond the point of coincidence and after checking into it, both games were released one year apart. While I doubt they built those segments entirely from the ground up after seeing Arkham Asylum, the influence and tweaks are obviously apparent! With one year apart from release dates, there would be enough time to modify existing assets to be similar without completing breaking the game.

I'm so glad you finally made time to play this game! For me, Shattered Dimensions is a masterpiece of a Spider-Man experience. And clinic in how to properly handle fan service in video games. I'm so thankful that the stars aligned to be able to make this happen back 2010. It's too bad Activision only cared about dollars signs and forced a rushed sequel out the way they did. I actually like Edge of Time (And that Josh Keaton & Christopher Daniel Barnes came back!), but I would have loved to see what Beenox could have done if they'd been given two years or more to develop it further. I think the poorer reviews for this game are representative of the classic bandwagoning that happens to all licensed comic book games. The general audience and gaming press are typically overly critical of these sorts of titles before release and I think they oftentimes carry that baggage into their review process as well. I'm not saying bad licensed games never happen, but I think it's usually the comic book MOVIE games that are bad. Not the games that are properly based on comic book IP's, and that often times get much longer development cycles. There's a reason, that games like the Batman Arkham Series, Ultimate Alliance, Shattered Dimensions, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and even Lego Marvel Super Heroes are so fantastic in comparison to games like Sega's Thor, 2K's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer or Spider-Man 3. I think one of the reason's Spider-Man 2 was so fondly remembered even though it's a movie game is because the mechanics of that game are still continuing iterations of what Neversoft built back in 2000. Try walling crawling with Spider-Man down to ground level. That transitional flip that he does onto the ground is Neversoft's design. And Activision kept using it all the way through to Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. Just handing pre-existing assets from one development team to another. You did a REALLY great job breaking this game down as you always do. There are a couple voice notes that I just want to mention for anyone reading. As you said, there was a lot to mention in that regard. But these are elements that also stick out to me. Or that I already knew because I play every one of these things when they release (Working through Guardians right now in fact!) and I've watched every cartoon iteration through thick and thin. 42:15 I appreciated John Kassir voicing the Deadpool fanboys in this game. The torch may have been passed, but it was nice to have the subtle acknowledgement that was probably just an inside joke for the development team. 1:17:33 Josh Keaton was also Harry/New Goblin in Spider-Man Friend or Foe. It's just one of those things that's stuck with me since the reveal trailer for that game. 1:21:23 Steve Blum voicing Hobgoblin was a nice reprisal of the Goblin voice he had just used on Spectacular Spider-Man when he voiced Green Goblin. In the lead up to the release of this game, we knew who all of the Spider-Men were voiced by, but Blum returning for Goblin was a nice surprise to me when I first played the game and that satisfaction has has stuck with me. Love these videos, Nerdy! I happen to be in the camp who thinks Spider-Man 2 was amazing until being eclipsed the very next year by Ultimate Spider-Man. In my opinion, Ultimate Spider-Man was the best open-world Spider-Man game to beat prior to Insomniac's take on the character. It's a wonderful game that unfortunately seems to be too often overlooked. I guess that's the price of not being connected to a majorly successful motion picture. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about Spider-Man 2!

This game will always be, hands-down, my favorite Marvel game of all time on console, I initially bought it pre-used in 2016 from Gamestop and have replayed it a lot of times on the Xbox 360, still keeping a copy for when I want to replay it in the future. Not only does it have multiverse elements to it and uses my favorite hero Spiderman, it has different game modes for each Spiderman and interactive maps unlike any other. To start with, it has a fire intro theme, which fits the premise of the game and has 4 changing screens of each Spiderman iteration in their home city. On top of that, it has silhouettes which keep the villain hidden but also give a clue as to who the Spiderman iterations will be fighting in their timelines, from Deadpool's giveaway sword pack to Sandman's spiked ball hand. There are a total of 4 villains for each arc of the storyline, one from each Spiderman timeline and 3 from each timeline by the end of the game, creating 12 villains total. Each villain has a unique fighting style, from Electro's shock attacks and dam scene where he absorbs the Tablet piece and becomes a giant, to Vulture who hides in the darkness and attacks with molotov cocktails. Each villain is also defeated in a unique way, from Scorpion being beaten by breaking a glass roof to collapse a Public eye ship on him to Goblin being defeated by attacking his spine, his weak spot. The main villain of the game is Mysterio, whose goal is to acquire the Tablet of Order and Chaos, which further fits the Spiderverse element after pieces of it are scattered around different Spiderman timelines, bringing an unlikely group of Spiderman together as protagonists. Madame Web from the comics leads them, ironically she also leads the Spiderman iterations in the Spiderverse comics. The game starts with tutorials for each Spiderman iteration and their unique ways of playing, which clearly explain how to use them and how to create basic combos. To build on that, there is a web similar to a skill tree which allows the Spiderman iterations to unlock new moves and combos. There is also a combo menu that shows possible combos for each Spiderman iteration, on top of a Bonus menu: which has amazing concept art of each aspect of the game and unlockable costumes. Personally, my favorite costumes for each are: Scarlet Spider (Amazing Spiderman), Original Concept (Noir), Silver Armor (2099), Red and Blue (Symbiote Spiderman). There is also a special costume when the game was purchased in Japan called Japanese Alternate Costume (Amazing Spiderman), and Cosmic Spiderman iterations for each of the 4 Spiderman iterations, with Cosmic Symbiote Spiderman (Symbiote Spiderman) being my favorite: these are unlocked after defeating Mysterio. The villains are also unique to their timelines, with Hammerhead and Vulture tying into both Goblin's gang and Noir's backstory, while Scorpion and Hobgoblin are both immersed in the 2099 storyline. Some unlikely villains are also introduced in some levels: such as the appearance of the Public Eye in the 2099 storyline, the appearance of S.H.I.E.L.D robots in the Carnage level, and the appearance of Silver Sable and her Wild Pack in the Juggernaut level. There are also backstories for anyone who may have not read the comics in the Bonus menu, with first appearances and basic origin stories for all 4 Spiderman iterations, all villains, all henchmen, and all side villains. There are also trophies of each character in the game in the Bonus menu, which are 3D and fully interactive. For a game that came out in 2010 ish, this game is a masterpiece for its time, with only Web of Shadows coming close to competing with it. I'm glad I chose this over Deadpool at Gamestop in 2016, although Deadpool is still a great game. My favorite parts of the gameplay will always be the stealth takedowns style of Noir, Spiderman 2099's helikick move and Acceleration vision ability, Symbiote Spiderman's rage meter and mode, the Deadpool level, the Carnage level, the Scorpion level, and the Noir part for the Mysterio level. Noir and 2099 are definitely my favorite iterations to be introduced, with both making it into the Spiderverse movie that Sony released and both having very unique gameplay styles.

@@petah3930 Personally, I think they're pretty basic but at least it's better in Miles Morales.

many people complain about how Miguel was adapted in this game, but the way he acts is totally faithful for the character. Especialy considering he´s arc dedicated of how being Spider-Man was turning his "Alter Ego" into someone real, he did say himself of how different he unconsciously acted when he downs the mask, overrall, he truly is Miguel in his run of the comics.

I was under the impression Spider-Man 2099 was super serious.

@@archivist_13 in the beginning trough the middle in his og run, he was. But thx to some personal things, he learned how to be a pretty good guy. Some people don't like it, but I see it how being a hero changes you for the better

This is my second favourite spider-man game, would love to see another non free roam spider-man game with a good story like this.

The first Spider-Man game I played was Spider-Man Web of Shadows, and the fact that you could choose to be good or evil was mind blowing

Little fun fact: During the Hammerhead mission, early on Hammerhead refers to one of the henchmen as Santana, which is the real name of Shocker

I used to play this game religiously when I was little. Still holds a special place in my heart.
