Andre the Giant, the actor who played Fezzick said that filming this movie was the happiness part of his life because everyone treated him like a fellow actor and not some giant freak.

My favorite bit I've learned is that the entire movie was finished filming except for the grandpa and grandson scenes. Fred Savage was sad and wanted to meet Andre as a wrestling fan. Andre went to set and spent all day with him and answered all his wrestling questions. Fred said Andre sent him a Christmas card every year until he passed and it was the one he looked forward to most.

Andre was an amazing human. He had an ornery side for sure but for the most part he was a sweet gentle giant. Side note Vince was always jealous this film was better and more well received than any of Hogans lol

@ Okay, yeah, I always knew the film was within a year of Mania III. How strange it must have been to one moment see Andre on the big screen as gentle Fezzik and the next moment turn your tv on to then WWF programming and see him yelling at Hogan “I’m challenging you for the world championship belt at the Wrestlemania. And therefore I wonder how awkward it might have been for Fred to talk to Andre if it was after that infamous segment of Piper’s Pit.

She says one day the crew went horseback riding on a day they weren't filming and got caught in freezing rain on the way back. She says Andre' saw her shivering and casually, like it was the most normal thing ever, rested his hand on her head like a hat. @ I mean Willow was good, but I don't see it as his second best role. Maybe that's just me. By the way, if you like thrash music I made a couple pretty cool tracks called "Ink and Fury: Octo's Revenge" and "Infernal Hop". They're posted on my channel, one in the video's and the other in the shorts. I come from a family of thrash metal musicians so expect good things.

One of my ALL TIME favorite movies, it is so well put together. The script, cast, direction, humor, action, romance everything is spot on. The entire cast LOVES this film and site it as one of their favorite roles. The film especially has a special place in my heart because I was the kid's age when my parents showed this to me, and the kids reaction and evolving attitude to the story is EXACTLY how I experienced it while watching it.

The man playing Grandpa is Peter Falke. He is most known for playing the PI Columbo in the Columbo series which is on Tubi. Fun fact is Andre had to get around the set on a 4 wheel ATV. Andre let Cary ride the ATV. He hurt his toe on the ATV. This is why in some scenes. You see him trying not too much pressure on his foot.

The book was actually really great too and had a similar setup- The foreward talks about how the author's dad would read him this book whenever he was sick and how much he loved it, then when he was older he found the book and it was full of boring sections on history and the culture of the countries, but his dad would skip all that stuff. So this book was abridged to be 'just the good parts'. In truth it was an original work, but it gave such a good mindset for the story. A more sad bit of trivia- The actor who played Inigo lost his dad not long before the filming of this movie and you can see the emotion whenever he talks of his father. Finally loved to see what a fan you were of the genre, you can see it in a lot of the call outs you made. This just happened to be the movie that started a lot of the tropes.

During Westley's and Inigo's swordfight, they're both referencing real swordfighters who wrote treatises on fencing and swordfighting: Camilo Agrippa Rocco Bonetti Ridalfo Capo Ferro da Cagli Girard Thibault d'Anvers (Also, Inigo, who appears to be in his thirties, has been studying swordfighting his entire life, possibly since even before his father's death, and was defeated by Westley who's presumably only been studying it for about 5 years.)

Some men just have a natural gift at certain things. One can study and practice 30 years at something and be beaten by someone who only studied 5 years. Case in point, Inigo and Wesley.

In Inigo's defense, his frustration over the failure to find his father's murderer has turned him, as we see or hear a couple of times, into a compulsive drunkard. Anyone who has spent as much time inebriated to the point of pickling as Inigo has during the time Westley has been training will not be close to their best form, making the sober and in serious training Westley his equal if not superior.

Great Reaction..... Everyone comments about how "Over the Top" this movie is and how "Useless" Buttercup is.... Reminder, You are watching this from the Imagination of an 8 year old boy who is listening to a story....... The Grandfather is best known for his role "Columbo" a Detective TV movie series in the 1970's... The Grandson was the lead from the TV show "Wonder Years"...... Fesik is played by Professional Wrestler Andre the Giant, He Past Away to Young at Age 46..... RIP The Cliff-Top Duel was practiced by Wesley & Indigo, through-out the filming and one of the last things filmed..... And is considered one of the best filmed duels in movie history, and all but the gymnastic flips is the actual actors..... When 6-Fingered Man hit Wesley on the Head, it was a real hit and put the actor for Wesley in the hospital.... The Director had to leave the set when Filming the Miracle Max scenes cause the Actor Billy Crystal kept making him laugh.... If you notice, when Indigo delivers the line "I want my Father Back...." the actor drops the spanish accent, one reason is he was channeling how he felt about loosing his Father to Cancer.....

During Covid Lockdowns there was a scene for scene recreation of the film with numerous big name Hollywood actors like Hugh Jackman, Jack Black, Pedro Pascal or Dave Bautista. Roles changed over the episodes because they were so many. And they all shot their parts in their homes. It has a very nice improvised feel to it. The proceeds went to some charity. My point being: The original film's director's dad played Peter Falk's part of the grandpa for the final scene, with the director being in bed as the kid, saying his "as you wish" (and we know what that means) as his last ever recorded words before he died a short while after.
