Wouldn't call the saves vs Canada last night "outrageous"--each was poorly taken. But Naeher did do an excellent job of reading those takes. And yes, Naeher has a history of making quality saves. And she can also take pens herself--went third last night vs Canada and buried hers, just as she buried hers vs Sweden in the World Cup.

I don’t want to take anything away from Naeher but I agree, they were poor strikes. Canada beat themselves on those penalties. Naeher’s own PK was clinical!

One of the things I like is that she read the player taking the kick instead of just diving in one direction- maybe the wrong direction

The quality of the 3 Canadian penalties saved, was just abysmal. Naeher took her penalty and placed it in a corner with pace. That's how you take a penalty.

@@fashionicon1972 Its difficult to decide how good a keeper is , until she has played against the top 10 countries in the world. As the Usa has only played against Canada, Brazil and Japan this year, its hard to gauge her level.
