Alyssa Naeher. One of the best to ever do it for the USWNT. ❤

Thanks so much for posting this so soon after the announcement came out. I needed this.

like her approach - USWNT - AND what another year or so with Chicago - EMMA has plenty of time to analyze prospects for the position and there are a couple young guns on the edge of great goal keeping abilities ! been a lot of years seen the last transition - then Alex -Llyod/Rapino - and now my viewing the recent transition WOW! HOPE i CAN HOLD ON FOR ANOTHER CHANGE BEFORE I GO ON MY ETERNAL VACATION --- THX FOR YOUR GREAT STOPS !!!!!!

What a lovely person. Sitting here listening to her I’m struck by how genuine, how honest she is. Oh, and she’s a pretty good soccer player too…. She is one of those people that’s so easy to root for. Wish her nothing but the best for the future.

I have more thoughts on this but here are some initial ones. Everyone who knows me knows Alyssa is my favorite player of all time. I started watching the national team regularly because of her. She seems so highly regarded-a strong presence on the field, a trusted teammate, and a genuinely good human. I’m SO PROUD of her! Can’t wait to cheer her on in England and in the future with Chicago. But I AM NOT OK.
@japeri171Ай бұрын
She was the best female goalkeeper of her generation,as well as being loved by her co-workers.The penalty save she made against England in the 2019 World Cup semi-final will remain in everyone's mind.

Thank you Alyssa! You are a legend! I loved watching you play! I will never forget your starfish jump save last summer at the Olympics! I think your soccer intelligence would make you a terrific coach if you wanted to do that in the future.

It is so refreshing to listen to such an intelligent and articulate professional athlete talk about her experiences and future plans. She's so well-spoken and so relaxed with her responses. She should teach a class to other professional athletes who can't speak without saying "um" or "ya know" or "like" over and over. She's always been a favorite of mine stepping into the giant shoes of Hope Solo as UWNT keeper. She'll be a tough act to follow.
@kyconeАй бұрын
She uses filler words, as well, so you don’t need to be condescending towards the other players. They’re athletes, not professional speakers.

Thank you for your incredible effort! I will openly admit that I am a devoted Hope Solo fan. My daughter started playing and when she was not playing defender she was in the goal. She immediately thought of Hope as the greatest player she could ever imagine. Yet I will say that as unimportant as my view is I want to say that Alyssa is the best PK goalie I have ever seen or heard of in my 52 years!

I think Alyssa was one of the best tenders we've had. I also expected this soon myself. But I would have had a farewell game for her. That would have allowed the fans to say goodbye. I do think that the USWNT is well represented and covered in goal regardless. Naeher has been developing her replacement for the last couple of years. I think she's ready.

I've watched this over 2 days and don't know how to react to it. Father Time still undefeated. Alyssa is one of the most famous and deserving football players of all time for both the women's and men's game (Alyssa Naeher, Hope Solo, Gianluigi Buffon, Dida, Manuel Neuer, Ilker Casillas). Certainly felt around the world. Any football fan respects and enjoys watching Alyssa play. She has such confidence and presence on USWNT felt by all and making all the plays to back it up. Wow what a keeper!!! All the best for health and happiness in your retirement! Gather those rosebuds!!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

Thanks for all the great games, Alyssa. I remember all the media crap that USWNT could never win without Hope and just loved it that you quieted everyone and proved they are wrong. Feel like whoever is the next main goalie will have all the same crap said but hope they can take your strength and do it as well. Absolutely loved that Lauren Holiday is still part of your life and USWNT. Good luck in your next adventures. Go Chicago!!

Hello Sam. I know people who know Steph Houghton and I am from the city her husband played for. I can never quite forget the penalty save against England in the World Cup, especially since it seemed to be all any US interviewers wanted to know about. I tried to keep imagining Rose's beautiful goal against Netherlands instead, which you saw close up first hand. Alyssa seems someone who would be great to have on your side and I begrudgingly enjoyed hearing her back then and best wishes to her after a great career, the so and so!

We've won game BECAUSE of Alyssa. That save versus England in 2019 at the World Cup, defeating Canada TWICE in a penalty shoot-outs for CONCACAF W Gold Cup semis and SHEBELIVES CUP final, the last minute save versus Brazil this year in Paris for gold. I can go on and on but there will be no other like Alyssa. The most clutch goalkeeper in USWNT history. PERIOD.

Dang, I will so miss the steely fierceness at the last line. At least I can defer finding a new favorite player for at least a season. Well deserved partial retirement, Lissy. Very interested in what you decide is your next thing. This is the poster child for what makes your show so standout, Sammy. Learning who the person is behind the kit makes it so easy to dive deep. EDIT: Not sure if it was a cultural infusion, but the Irish reference given her long role in Chitown is pretty awesome 🍀
