I’m pretty sure the element of style that I like in most outfits is the way the garments hang on a thin body. I don’t have a thin body and so the clothes I’m seeing will not look the same on me. I think I need to follow more people that look like I do and take better care of myself. I find that when I’m eating better and going on long walks I feel better about my body even when it looks exactly the same as on the days when I eat rainbow sherbet and stay in bed all day. Still, when I see the fit of a garment on an athletic type it seems to be the body I like more than the clothes

The first outfit I love because if you pair it with a striped top its Parisian chic or for me what I want to do is leopard sandals and a bright crop top underneath the denim with the chambray shirt sleeves rolled up. As for the crop with the wide leg pants I want to do that with some cargo pants and some sneakers I think it would be super cool. Both of those are right up my alley style wise but I can't pull off certain things due to my job requirements but I love that you are drawing from your closet.

I would have worn the red mini- beige Biker combo with an oversized button up and maybe a colour matching hat (if you have that). It changes the vibe and will work with a heftier scarf if needed

The last outfit is actually my favourite! But I like the other outfits with more black as well! If you are in any cooler part of the world, march and even most of april is way too early for sandals! You have close too freezing evenings and mornings! Better slip on loafers and closed toe heels with sheer nylon trouser socks which you can slip off and put back on as temprature is changing during the day!

As a fellow Canadian/Ontarian, I struggle with the shorts and sweater looks. Proportion and texture- wise, love them. Love them on my screen. In reality, if it's cold enough for the sweater + jacket + boots, it's way too cold for shorts. Even with tights. Then it starts to feel too concocted to me. I struggle with the casual/ dressy mixes as well, for the same reason. When it hits, there's nothing cooler. When it misses, it screams "I AM DRESSING THIS UP AND/ OR DOWN!" I really love watching you experiment. It gives me permission to do the same, and apparently I needed that. I really like your style and take a lot of inspiration from it (especially your realistic cold weather outfits)! I am just starting to build some confidence in my own taste (at 48), and you've been a big part of that. And if an outfit doesn't click for me, I learn a lot from figuring out why. Thank you for your thoughtful breakdowns of why and how you picked and mixed your pieces. It really helps.

those looks all look great on YOU. for me? yep, once again....i am too old to be wearing any of those outfits. however, i still get the benefit of hearing your take on the proportions and what is new and going for those sorts of things on my own without showing all the skin. which looks ridiculous on someone my age....lol. i still think i can tweak these to make the colors and proportions, style and lines work. thank you.

I can't do a cropped midriff either but have found other ways to incorporate these silhouettes whilst staying covered (e.g. a cropped jumper over a silky dress, or cropped jacket with a slimmer top tucked into high waisted bottoms) 😊 Hope that helps?

It is so pleasantly surprising - and maybe a reason for worry jajaja - that whenever I watch your "shop your closet" videos, I actually own a piece of clothing just like the ones you`re showing... But it does help me look at my clothes in a new way! And even though this time, I do not have a red skirt, I can do this look with other colors of skirts, so I don`t feel the need to do any shopping for the spring! So inspiring, as always...!

I love these videos! I think they all look amazing on you but my fav is the chambray shirt with long black skirt. I have a similar look on my Pinterest board and just realized I finally found a chambray shirt that I love & I have the black skirt. I also love the wide / palazzo style pants with a form-fitting shirts but for me sans the turtle neck because I have very big girls.

Yes, I'd love to see "casual and fun" styling. Most of the fashion/style content from different stylists is for a life I don't lead. I go to the gym and run errands, go hiking, have outings with my husband or friends. Most of my social time calls for casual dresses at the most. I want to feel both sporty and attractive. Thank you Alyssa, the problem for me would be that if it's cold enough to wear a heavy sweater and jacket and boots, surely it would feel cold wearing just the shorts. It's important to keep these great outfits realistic too, I don't have a car so I need to walk or use public transport and if I'm cold at the top I'm also cold at the bottom. I'm getting older and I really feel the cold in my legs.

Watching your videos I am always like : she is so cool, anything on Alyssa looks amazing! 😀 But honestly, your videos and the knowledge you give is very very useful for every person. In order to understand how to choose what one's like, how to wear and combine it, and how to work on overall satisfaction with own closet, having what is already in it, and also working on wise desicions while shopping. Love the channel - thank you for the tips! I subscribed and follow. One thing about slow fashion, we have to take care of our items so they really last. Those boots you love that need some ❤ and attention are really throwing off the style ‘look’ in the video. It is noticeable in the videos that they are torn up - respectfully, and because I am NOT trying to be rude at all (I did work with shoes for many years so I’m hyper focused maybe?). Please encourage people to update the care of their shoes/boots. It finishes an outfit nicely when they look great!

With the new trend of more loose-fitting or relaxed trousers (flare, bootcuts, wide, straight, etc) I'm having a hard time distinguishing where are my jeans or trousers suppose to hit at the bottom. Great q! I have a list... it is compiled on an ongoing basis depending on if i have recurring gaps or see something i just really want to add! I put it on the list and try and find the items secondhand so it takes a bit of time... sometimes items come off the list bc i realize i dont need/like them .. i hope this helps!
