For all of you saying, "we don't like Murray because Fleury left and we loved Fleury" -- you have short memories. People used to treat Fleury exactly the same when he'd go through a rough patch, and start screaming to trade him. It was a shitty thing to do then and it's a shitty thing to do now. Murray has shown he can be a good goalie -- a lot of this started right around the time his father died. If he doesn't improve, then yeah, maybe he needs to be traded, but that's no reason to fucking boo the guy. I'll bet you were the same bunch of jagoffs back in 2015 who were screaming that we needed to trade Malkin, or trade Crosby, that they were all washed up, blah blah blah. If you're only going to root for the team when we're winning, don't even bother.
@CJEstradaMartinez4 жыл бұрын
Jake Gardiner joined a disturbing trend with Maple Leafs fans. They love turning defensemen into their personal whipping boys. Look at how they chased Larry Murphy and Brian McCabe out of town. Even when McCabe returned with the Florida Panthers, they still couldn't stop booing him. That shows what little class their fans have, nor were they willing to quietly move on. Give kudos to Larry Murphy for handling his situation with class after being traded to Detroit at the 1997 trade deadline. He only played a critical role in helping the Red Wings capture back-2-back Stanley Cup titles in '97 & '98. He also won two titles with Pittsburgh in '91 & '92, giving him four championships during the 90s. This also earned him a Hall Of Fame induction with Raymond Borque and Paul Coffey in 2004. As for Jake Gardiner, give him credit for facing the media after the Game 7 loss in Boston. His teammates also deserve a ton of praise for standing behind him. He was already heartbroken and ashamed of his performance that night. Rather than pick him up, Maple Leafs fans chose to kick him while he was down. Remember, there's no "I" in team.

Islanders fan here who was sad to see JT go but in retrospect, it was the best thing for the franchise. He absolutely disappeared down the stretch his last season on LI and that was a big factor in the Islanders not making the playoffs. He escaped with minor scrutiny due to the very limited media coverage here. But had he stayed, he would have chewed up a lot of cap money and prevented the team from signing the good young players who have made the Islanders solid contenders.

If Kovalchuk succeeded Parise as the Devils captain, he would’ve been their leading scorer and point-getter and that Devil team would’ve finished atop the Eastern Conference standings in the 48-game shortened lockout season with 73 points, losing to my Rangers in 5 games in the 2nd round of the playoffs and then Brodeur would’ve moved ahead of Maurice Roberts and Johnny Bower to be the oldest goalie to ever play the game and the Devils would’ve hired Bruce Boudreau in the summer of 2017 and finished atop the Eastern Conference standings with 114 points in the 2017-18 season with Kovy scoring 52 goals, Taylor Hall scoring 30 goals and Brodeur setting the all-time record for the oldest goalie to ever play in the NHL. Meanwhile, with the #1 overall pick in Nico Hischier, the then-expansion Vegas Golden Knights would’ve won the presidents’ trophy with 119 points. Then, the Devils would’ve gone on to the 2018 Stanley Cup Final and lost in 7 games to the Golden Knights, as the Knights would’ve become the first expansion team to ever win the Stanley Cup.
@jasonarokiaraj98174 жыл бұрын
CodingCrusader1095 that’s right. Also, in the 2018 offseason, the Isles end up hiring Pierre Lacroix as team president and general manager and Ken Hitchcock as head coach. However, the bad news for the Devils is that the Devils that while they would’ve started off 8-0-0 on the 2018-19 season, they would’ve flopped and still fallen to last in the Metropolitan Division, where they would’ve finished the regular season, but there’s a reason for that. Kovy and Hall each miss most of the season with injury problems, which means that Brodeur finally looks like his age even though, Brodeur extends his contract to at least 4 more years. This means that the Devils still take Jack Hughes with the #1 overall pick in the 2019 draft. Also my Rangers would’ve made the playoffs as the 1st wild card in the 2018-19 season, while the Islanders would’ve won the Metropolitan Division, after finishing last in the division in the 2017-18, meaning that while the Devils fall from 1st to worst in the division, the Isles do the complete opposite. In the 2019 playoffs, the Isles take out my Rangers in 5 games, as Josh Bailey scores the overtime goal in game 5 in Nassau Coliseum and then the Isles sweep the Pens in the next round, before falling in 7 games to the regular season champion Boston Bruins, who would’ve then gone on to beat the Blues in 6 games in the Stanley Cup Final. This year, the Isles would’ve gotten off to a 21-0-0 start and won the presidents’ trophy, while my Rangers get the 1st wild card again and the Devils get the 2nd wild card. Without the coronavirus, the Isles beat the Devils in 7 games, while my Rangers take out Buffalo in 7 games. My Rangers would’ve then gone on to beat Toronto in 5 games, while the Isles would’ve beaten Washington in 7 games. Then in the 2020 ECF, my Rangers would’ve beaten the Isles in 6 games, as Mika Zibanejad scores the OT goal and we would’ve gone on to the Stanley Cup Final to beat the Arizona Coyotes in 7 games, with Mike Babcock as our head coach. I also believe that if the Thrashers had drafted Dany Heatley a year earlier than they did, they would’ve stayed in Atlanta, despite losing all their best players because they would’ve attracted more fans in their inaugural season, despite having the fewest points in the league. Then, Kovy would’ve been the Devils captain.

i 100% understand why the Islanders fans don't like Tavares. 99% of the time when a big name has decided that he will not be resigning with the team they are currently with, they make that clear to management so they can be moved at the deadline and the team can recoup some of the cost of what they're losing when that big names leaves(Namely First rounders and prospects). But at least 50% of the blame is on the management for how they handled the Tavares situation. When you're a basement team with no playoff chances with an approaching big name UFA, you're trying to sign an extension during the season and if the Deadline comes and you have no extension... you trade him, no Ifs ands or buts. Because if you haven't reached an extension deal by February, you aren't going to reach one. 50/50 on Tavares and Management, Tavares should've made it clear he wasnt staying and Management should have done more than place their heads firmly between their ass cheeks and traded him when they couldn't reach an extension. tl;dr: Tavares and Management are both assholes

Even as a Capitals fan, I feel the vitriol Murray gets is unwarranted. For one, you do realize Murray is only 26, and the peak for goalies is around 31 to 35? In addition, have you guys even seen the shape of your defense corps? You guys need help on that front more than anywhere else. You want my advice: stop trading draft picks for immediate help, save them to draft defensemen and young forwards and prepare to build for the future. It's never too late to start early, and your team already won 3 Cups with Crosby and Malkin, that's already an achievement in itself.

Most fans don't understand the modern hockey defensive system. Jake was and is an offensive defenseman. You have a pair. One of them is a defensive puck retrieving usually hard-hitting gritty Defenseman. Like Muzzin. They sometimes have offensive upside but they know how to defend well and are generally good at shutting down the play and sending it back the other way. The other is an offensive D. Usually Fast, skilled, puck-moving player, who gets the puck in the zone and to the net. They can score, usually have high assists and usually have ok to bad defensive sills in their own end. The problem with Gardiner is he never had a defensively oriented player with enough skill as his partner.

No? There are lots of people in Montreal who respects Carey and still wants him.

As a Pens fan, I don’t hate Murray, I wish we kept fleury. I do hate vegas those the golden thief’s. No other team was given top tier players to start their franchise and the NHL sold out the sport for a fair weather fan base.
@JS-3114 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say we’re fair weather. We’ll see how the fanbase really is when the team eventually isn’t making the playoffs, but I have faith in the fans
@flyingjudas18954 жыл бұрын
J S vegas won’t make it, they will “relocate” to Canada by 2030, Especially with football there, it’s a betting town, and hockey betting isn’t going to pay like football, it will be overlooked and you will see a lot of empty seats once they miss the ploffs.
@JS-3114 жыл бұрын
John Brown but you also have to remember that the Golden Knights are competing with a dead franchise in the Raiders that hasn’t been good in decades and I don’t see ever being good again

Tavares deserved his hatred in my opinion. I wish he did take a chance with new ownership, but he saw Toronto as a better place.

Not quite as prevalent, but we Blue Jackets fans hate Jeff Carter. Dude didn't want to play in Columbus, so we don't want him playing here. He gets booed pretty loudly whenever he hits the ice at Nationwide.

I would NOT want to be a defenceman in Toronto. I live here and watched a couple of games when Larry Murphy was out of favour and it was both ignorant and brutal.

Fans can be toxic in any franchise. The fact that Toronto has arguably the biggest fanbase of them all just makes toxic stuff more visible in media etc at times

Just because Tristan Jarry is currently doing better than Murray, that doesn't mean the Pens fans hate him.

From a pens fan Murray is disappointing this season hope he can bounce back hope we didn’t trade fleury for nothing but Not looking good
@jameskilgour3874 жыл бұрын
You didn't trade Fleury... Besides you have a phenomenal young goalie in Jarry and Desmith is serviceable anyway. It's not like Fleury has decades left in him either. Murray lost his Dad, it's no surprise he's slipped but Pittsburghs not desperate for a goalie. Far be it for me to defend a Penguin, but I've never understood people being overly critical of a guy who contributed to two back to back Stanley cups, he should be able to never play a game again and still go down as a franchise legend in my book
@beast_cooper39024 жыл бұрын
James Kilgour I know i meant we didn’t protect him and yes Murray could have only 1 down year but i see more in Jarry right now i agree with you tho were gonna lose one to Seattle anyways

Me neither. He had his five minutes of fame but he's too much of a showman, his offence has long dried up, and he's a defensive liabilty which is not a good look for a defenseman lmao

I hope Evander keeps up the great play in San Jose. Stop with the penalties! Lots of talent and skill. Love MAF, but Murray is also a good guy. Sort of puzzled why he unfollowed so many Pens accounts. If it happened at all. No strong feelings about Gardiner. No strong feelings on Ilya. Hey, Tavares has great playing chops. Why shouldn't he play for his hometown team? Go Leafs!
@michaelgiambruno52784 жыл бұрын
As an isles fan, I agree with your point about JT playing for his hometown team I have no problem with that...it’s the way he did it that bothers us islanders fans so much, and Alyssa pointed that out in the video. He said he wanted to stay and be and islander for life, not giving the organization a chance to possibly trade him for players/picks and signs with Toronto in the offseason and fucks over the isles franchise. We even went as far to get one of the best coaching staffs in the league for him and he still signed to Toronto
