I bought that power bear radio and I was listening to an AM Radio stations that were a great distance from where I am. One was in Cleveland Ohio that is almost 1200 miles from where I am. Also I somehow got a station in San Francisco Bay and that is like 1800 miles and Philadelphia (WIP) and that is 1500 miles. To me, it is a great little radio and it far surpasses the reception for my CC Pocket radio which was $65. I probably need to try that sony, but I am very happy with the power bear radio for $12.

Yes, at night, the AM side of your radio can receive stations hundreds of miles away, about 95% of nighttime hours.

Thanks for the comparison. I own the last three Sony pocket models. Only the ICF-S10MK2 is a good performer on FM around here. The ICF-26 and 27 are built like tanks!

I bought my Sony radio and it lasted me for 5 years that radio is awesome now Sony makes the ICF-P27 it has a DSP tuner.

The powerbear is actually using a case used by the sony ICF-S10, there are many other cheap brands using the same case Vivitar from dollar store amd many others.

You don't need to pull the antenna up to listen to AM radio (they have a ferrite bar antenna, which uses the magnetic field) FM and Shortwave radios need the antenna extended to get weaker stations.

Hello. I have a Rxy 160 model radio. this model is sony p26 replica. I bought it because it was cheap. Is it normal for the sound quality to sound like old walkie talkies? How is the sound quality of sony p26 and can i get stereo sound from earphone? and finally what are the differences between p26 and p27?

Sony ICF-P26 has a pure analog radio while Sony ICF-P27 is DSP BASED... but it is not caused chopyness unlike other radios when you tuned it does. Both units headphone output is mono

Sony ICF-P26 AM/FM RADIO is pure analog unlike other portable radios uses DSP (DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSOR)... Powerbear radio is also DSP BASED When you tuned the dial it chopyness...
