Different for sure, still can hear that slight architects signature stamp on it though. I remember watching an interview a long while back about them talking about wanting to venture off in to a different sound and I guess this is what they was talking about. I think a band as big as Architects are they can pull something off pretty decent as similar to that of Bring Me always bringing something different out whether it be heavy or melodic. I feel Architects are sort of going on the same path of creatively and while it won't favour everyone in the genre for sure will spark a new generation of listeners. These guys are incredibly talented artists with so much going for them their previous albums account for this over the years. I'm happy to see bands like architects create something different and aspiring and going outside of what they have already done stylistically.

@@OWA_Freerunning hmm they've been a lot more creative, look at damnation, 1 breakdown in the middle of the song, and just when you think they're adding a second one, it's actually a long bridge and end it on a heavy small chorus. Dying to heal, they don't even repeat the chorus and just end it in a breakdown, which was an absolutely great play by them. From the Wilderness is my personal favorite, with a long feelsy bridge in the middle going into the verse, and they only use the chorus twice and the second time around they tweak it really well, they don't just repeat it like in their last few singles and fttwte. Daybreaker also has complex songs like alpha omega and these colors don't run. Dunnno, they are hella more capable than these traditional radio rock songs. Just my two cents.
@proprioceptive_ultragamer2 жыл бұрын
They weren't afraid to play with song structure in the past, but "Holy Hell" is when they started spamming the 'Verse/Chorus/Verse/Chorus/Bridge/Chorus' structure without much variation. For some reason, people unsatisfied with the new direction still praise that album to hell and back. At least "For Those That Wish To Exist" is a highly eclectic collection of songs; it really benefits from that unterrified range. It was a strong answer to the incredibly uninspired "Holy Hell," whereas "Holy Hell" itself was an incredibly boring and gutted follow-up to the almighty "All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us." I am genuinely confused about how people think of this band's history. I imagine that many people were introduced to the band with "Holy Hell" and remember it quite poorly.

I'll say this, that main riff is IMO the best they've put out since FTWWTE. The use of an octaver pedal and the added chorusy effects make it so big. Really gives the song a doomish sound that doesn't sound like a straight rip off of doom. It's a 9/10 for me because it has really good qualities. I will say, they need to change the keys more because to me, it sounds like it's Drop B tuning and the key is in C#, which is the same as Animals. We'll see how the album is but I hope it's not repetitive. That's what I think the downfall of the album may be is how repetitive it may be which I really hope it's not. Im a newer fan of Architects and quite enjoy the heavy synth lectro stuff, but I have to say, this song is weird. Im having a hard time grooving to it the way i want, i think it's slightly unsatisfying somehow. I'll keep listening to it though, see if it grows on me.

Well tbh this is probably my favorite one (about the last songs) since I don't really like the last ones, but it's not my thing anymore since the album "For Those That Wish To Exist" (some tracks are cool tho). I'm listening to Architect since 2011, and it's definitly the end of their metalcore era. Would I say it's a bad thing? No, I guess when you're doing a particular style of music for so many years, there will always be a moment when you need to change. Will I be as fan as I was until the last album? Definitly not, but if it's their thing now, it's just like that, let's wait to see more!

My only gripe is how it goes silent for a split second during the breakdown in the middle and the end. Throws me off for some reason. But cool song!
