As a channel built with focus fans, its no surprise the switch has critisism But from an obious view, mps has more power, an LSD gearbox and better handling As an owner of an mps, they can be reliable when maintained, you took great care of your xr5. Ive beaten on mine hard over 2+ years and had very minimal problems (basically all problems were a result of past mechanics) My brother has an XR5 and ill definitely say they sound way better, much more comfortable, and so much rarer

They are fun to drive, when they work right. Kind of like subarus, they run well when left mostly stock but stuff starts breaking quickly when you get into more power adders. Enjoy but be prepared to rebuild it. -coming from someone who just sold their gen 1 speed

Fingers crossed mine doesn’t need a rebuild 😮 I’m not planning on pushing it very hard and going to keep up with my maintenance so we will see how it goes🤞

When it has front mount it’s supposed to be 500hp so I wouldn’t be so sure 💨 💯

Well this was unexpected mate fair play mate they are really underrated car not so popular here in the U.K. due to what u said the reliability etc but looking fwd to following the build mate 👍🏻

Did you have mechanical issues with the XR5 or did you just get bored of it?

The xr5 was mint my whole ownership, I did spend a lot of money on preventative maintenance but even so it was great. Hopefully the mps is the same 🤞

lol going from a focus 2.5 to a 2.3 mps is a downgrade. big money to be spent to make big power compared to the xr5... and gearboxes on the mps is very fragile

Maybe…. Buuuuutt this MPS was cheaper than the focus, makes more power with less mods (on stage 1 anyway) has a factory LSD and is easier to get parts for here in NZ. Just a few of the reasons why I made the switch. I still love the focus it was awesome. But I think next time I’d need the RS Version

@@turbo_tyler_ true true, here in SA to get power out of the 2.3 is more expensive than the XR5. and power gains is like N/A gains lol

Ahh spewin... However, I do suspect you will be like the many others whom have parted with the mighty XR5(ST) and miss the thing. The focus has a much more aggressive torque delivery than the MPS which is inline with what you were saying when you said the focus felt more torquey. Alas, hope you have fun with your MPS adventures :)

I most likely will miss my focus, I’d like to buy the RS version if I ever have the itch for one again so I don’t have to spend so much money on a xr5 trying to make it an Rs which it never will be. The mps is less torque but does handle a lot better so it’s all a trade off. Thanks for the comment I hope you enjoy some of the future mps content

I have indeed gone to the dark side. Both cars definitely have there pros and cons. I’ll have to give it some more time owning both before I can say which I like better.
