idk maybe i interpreted kendrick’s lyrics differently, it’s not the fact that he’s questioning drakes blackness , it’s been well known that ever since drake came into the rap game that he himself was insecure about his own skin, kendrick is simply calling drake out for exploiting other black rappers to make himself appear more like a specific type of black person , i don’t think kendrick has a problem with drake being mixed at all, that’s what i got from that and i seen many other people say the same , now im not gonna disagree other rappers like rick ross are 100% being colorist

I think it might be a little bit of both. When kendrick says Drake can't say the word when Drake is black it's kinda weird. I kinda used the rap beef as a starting point, but wanted to talk about how black people view blackness as a whole. I can see it from both sides. Thanks for watching!

@@G33kyBoy yeah i wouldn’t be surprised if i was completely wrong on my interpretation cause i can definitely see that 100% , the problem with this issue is that us as black people degrade ourselves (not all of us obviously lol) , we degraded ourselves to the point where to some people being black means u gotta come from a certain background, u gotta listen to certain a rappers , u gotta look up to certain people , and if u don’t do those things , people see u as not black , or someone who is black that is trying to be “white” , obviously other races do play a part in the perception of black people, but it just doesn’t make us look any better when we have lil black kids looking up to the sexy redds of the world , or the street rappers of the world , most people look at that and think that’s what it means to be black, and if u go against the grain , ur considered weird , or whitewashed , etc, that’s jus how i honestly feel, i could be totally wrong on how im looking at it

Nah you can't be wrong on YOUR interpretation. Everyone sees things differently. I 100% agree with your take on how we are viewed. As a society we have to do better.

@@law2426You're not wrong about your interpretation, Kendrick Lamar has no problem with Drake being mixed, I mean he doesn't have a problem with J Cole who also has a white mother? Drake has done black face, a derogatory act towards African Americans. Drake has said in one of his songs "Whipping and chaining like American slaves" "I'm about to turn into George Zimmerman" "You're rapping like you're trying to free the slaves" You're 100% spot on your interpretation, Drake loves black American culture but doesn't like black American people. The only people who keep trying to make it seem as though Kendrick doesn't like Drake because he's mixed are people who are just triggered due to their past experiences with race.

Idk if this was subliminal at me, but no one over here is "triggered" from past experiences😂

Dude this video really speaks to me. I'm a light skinned, light eyed, African American who as a little girl and to this day has had my blackness questioned. I grew up in Detroit but I am a reserved person and I grew up watching anime so from the jump i didn't fit in well at school. People never bullied me but I felt a distance from people around me besides friends. People assume I'm mixed and act surprised when I say I'm technically not (yk why) but it always made me feel weird. I guess I never got the vibes right for my community, so I feel distant sometimes. Not to mention the tom foolery I witnessed at school making me want to distance myself from my own people for a while, it was so messy. Anyways nice video, I am proud to be African American now and no one can tell me I'm not >:)

4:02 No that's what people like you think Black culture is Black culture incompasses many things and ironically with you being a Drake fanboy he glorifies that nonsense in many of his lyrics which shows that's we he also thinks about black american culture.

You sure can say whatever you want, even if it draws out your stupidity. You don't know me, so that's fine, but I'm not resentful of my own people. I'm just ACTUALLY truthful about the world around us. So to YOU what is black culture. In YOUR own words. Oh btw, it's "their" not there, but I wouldn't expect you to know that anyway.

You're Black no matter what your personality is. We try to take things as all or nothing, too emotional, want to publicly call out Blackness (no other race does this to their own, Whites just experiment being other races), and just hate each other. I grew up as a geek. I learned self hate. I pin pointed that what was going on was environment based, moved to other environments and saw us treated the same or worst, stopped the self hate. Just telling you that most (if not all) people are gonna see you as Black before they see anything else about you no matter how you look or act.

@@G33kyBoy We're just different types of Bla cks not popularized yet. We are angry and new to freedom, so we worship the fel ons, athletes, and th ug types. I grappled with same question. I didn't get the answer, to myself, until about 35. I'm 46 now. Enjoy your youth. Know your en emy, but other than polit ics or our quest for repara tions, don't waste your life thinking about the ra ce thing. Find and have friends and enjoy those. Many of them can get with Bla ck geeks. Enjoy yourself and NEVER question your ra ce because others won't and the question gives them power.

Lol 😂 the weird thing about ethnicity is that most of us have actual blood relatives that look like Kendrick and Drake because our great grand parents were hooking up with white sailors at the coasts of Africa.
