@Moist White on AsAm racism tends to be more passive aggressive than overt. You get "put in a box" with preconceived stereotypes. It's why Asian men internet forums give an awfully toxic/incel vibe. If society tells you you aren't manly enough, you'll express frustration on the internet with other frustrated men. For the women in our cohort, they regularly deal with men who see them as an object. You'd think, "cool! You have hordes of men into you!" But it's actually dehumanizing and creepy. That's from what the women in my family told me.

*sigh* it's embarrassing when as a foreigner, I have to teach natives about their language. definition "-ism" A system, or philosophy, typically a political ideology. Isms denotes a system of operating. How people choose to allocate scarce resources. Capitalism A System of operations inforced by those power based on their notions of capital. -Those who play along with the game model are called a Capitalist. Socialism A System of operations inforced by those power based on their notions of being social. -Those who play along with the game model are called a Socialist. Communism A System of operations inforced by those power based on their notions of community. -Those who play along with the game model are called a Communist. Racism A System of operations inforced by those power based on their notions of race. -Those who play along with the game model are called a racist. All of these are economic systems of operations in order to distribute scarce resources, which is the nature of economics. Black people cannot be racist in the west apart from towards themselves because they haven't the power to enforce systems that discriminate against white people. It's really not that difficult to understand, why are you guys struggling with this?

@@lawrencebolt3540 Racism is SIMPLY discrimination based on race. The dictionary definition isn't everything. Also, power depends on context, in a majority black area, they can discriminate against Asians for example. Also, affirmative action is _actively racist_ against *Asian-Americans* , preventing them from getting into good schools. If that were the case for Blacks, you'd be crying racism. Bill Baldwin it’s technically not the same due to that ones a phrase and the other a word, and someone may argue that words deemed racially offensive aren’t offensive if it’s not meant to be offensive, an example being that saying “that ***** Joe is a really cool guy” is far better than saying “blacks don’t deserve human rights and they should serve their superiors”, now I’m not saying I 100% support that argument but I will say I understand it

We grew up in the same hood. His little brother and I were in the same grade. Our little sisters are in school pics together from jk to 8. My sister went to a different high school for gifted kids. Brian is dead. Brian was in the same Socioeconomic bracket as me. We exemplify how literally nothing has changed. Me... black. The slave. Him Irish. The hireling. @David Guez White Americans can figure out their European lineage very easily by looking a few generations back. Our ancestors were all stolen and forced to be here, so we've lost track of a lot of our ancestral roots. "Black," exists because "Black," people share experiences with each other in America. White Americans share nothing but their skin color and a history of racially charged oppressiveness. We acknowledge each other as "brother," and "sister," because we're all in this together and being a family is the best way to be sure we get through it.
@Afromortis2
@Afromortis2 3 жыл бұрын
@David Guez How did you misquote me three times? Also, we're talking about AMERICAN slavery, AMERICAN oppression, and AMERICAN racism. Poor white Americans were not oppressed because they were WHITE, they were oppressed because they were POOR. African American slaves were slaves because they were BLACK, and yes they were sold by "other Africans," but it wasn't out of betrayal. They were sold as prisoners of war because the tribes weren't exactly friendly with one another. When we discuss Black Americans, we are discussing 400 years of systemic oppression that has almost exclusively, and disproportionately affected Black and Brown people and communities.

@David Guez No one thinks ALL white people were slave owners, but ALL white people are immune to the repercussions of slavery, and have benefitted from a system that gave us super-power status. They have benefitted in that white men are never considered savages, or beasts, or animals, or anything less than human. They are considered full fledged humans without a second thought, while Black people don't get that same luxury, even the wealthiest and most affluent among us being subject to racist violence and discrimination that white people don't at all experience as a result of their race.

It was originally invented by schools of thought in sociology, gained traction with millennial college students who then went on to spread it's popularity through their credentials as academics. Now, these people are paid thousands to tell others they are inherently racist for being white, regardless of their own beliefs or prejudices, or lack thereof. The vast majority of the people in this country haven't been a part of this development, however - which is why we are now left with a lot of confused uneducated people getting into arguments with an angry minority of educated people. Roger Smith Yes. You can extend this reasoning to the idea of White Privilege also. White Privelege is defined as the people in positions of power all have the same skin color, and people of that skin color are treated respectfully by the police and shop keepers, and photographs of in the history books past great leaders have that skin color too. Evidently Japanese people in Japan enjoy White Privilege. And so does every Black person in Nigeria, and Chinese in China, and Indians in India, etc.

Just so happens, the people that took a once prideful word and twisted it into what it means were white people. Blacks don't wanna be reminded of it by someone who looks like the once oppressors, so don't say it. Blacks say it so if a white person says it to try and make them feel bad, it won't sting as much. All in all, why the hell would you wanna say a racial slur period, ESPECIALLY if you know your ancestors used it in derogation.

The narrative that a black person cant be racist is an ego defence designed to prevent one from looking at themselves and recognising that they embody aspects of themselves that they have suppressed / denied. It limits introspection and grants one the ability to treat others how they wouldn’t want to be treated. If you have been told you are the victim all your life and view others through that lense, looking at yourself and seeing that you have become the thing you’re fighting against is incredibly painful.
