This is one of those moments that just created magic.Hurricane Helene had just dumped a bunch of rain on the festival which even caused one day to be cancelled. The stage was wet, the ground by the stage was wet and muddy. Jinjer was to play later in the day. Spiritbox had three people come up for songs in this set. Tatiana was the first. No rehearsal. I've seen pictures of Tatiana with a lot of other singers in bands. I wasn't aware she knew Courtney.. I think you would like Jinjer's new song Green Serpent. If you have read the Kafka books you also would like their song Kafka which is also new.

Jinjer have dropped four singles from their upcoming album. Yes, I would also recommend "Green Serpent" and "Kafka."

They have talked about liking and being influenced by IWABO and there's video of Courtney with IWABO reacting to Jinjer in 2014 and being very complimentary. I think they connected after both bands released songs called Perennial at about the same time haha.

Female metal vocalists that excel at harsh vocals are still a small club, so I am sure they try to meet and support each other when given the opportunity. As another commenter has mentioned, Tatiana has known Elena Cataraga for years. Tatiana is also friends with Fernanda Lira of Crypta who I consider the second best female harsh vocalist after Tatiana. I have seen quite a few pictures of Tatiana and Alissa White-Gluz (my #3 female harsh vocalist) hamming it up together. Tatiana has recently gotten to know Yukina of Hanabie during their recent tour together.

"Kafka" is epic. As a consumer of his literature, I recommend being ready to cross check certain references in the song - specifically - "Whom to wake up in the morning? A Gregor or Joseph" It is a fun ride.

I'm so excited to see Spiritbox in Dallas! It was an insta-buy for me as soon as it was announced! I almost got to see Jinjer and Hanabie together in Houston last year, but it didn't work out. Just got my tickets for Hanabie in Dallas, though!

I saw Jinjer and Hanabie in San Antonio and it was a fantastic one, two punch. It was my second time to see JInjer, so I knew what to expect. I had high expectations for Hanabie, and they did not disappoint. Yukina is a force of nature. I saw 6 bands that weekend in San Antonio and if I had to rank them, Jinjer would be #1 followed by Hanabie.

Absolute dream collaboration! Two of the best vocalists on the planet being more than the sum of their parts. Amazing. Your face said it all during the breakdown! If you're looking for suggestions for more from these two, there's a recent live version of Spiritbox's 'Angel Eyes' in which Courtney explores some new textures. Also from Spiritbox: Holy Roller, Rule of Nines, Rotoscope, Too Close/Too Late, Ultraviolet, Constance, Cellar Door. From Jinjer: Vortex (you will *love* the jazz-progginess of this one), I Speak Astronomy, Someone's Daughter, Wallflower, The Green Serpent.

WE WERE THERE! When Tatiana came out, the crowd went apeshit crazy! (I fan boy'd hard) 2 AMAZING and talented singers on the same stage... even tho Tati's mic was a little low, you could still her her. It was incredible how their voices blend together so well and Tati's deep growls just added the cherry on top. Have seen both groups live multiple times, you should go see SpiritBox live. and if you like this... you should really check out Arch Enemy - you will fangirl some more! They are a Swedish Melodic Metal band. I think you'll love Alissa's clean vocals and growls. Arch Enemy - Handshake with Hell - official music video (not the summer recap) Arch Enemy - The Eagle Flies Alone (OMV) Arch Enemy - Nemesis (Live at Wacken 2016) Arch Enemy - Reason to Believe Nita Strauss - The Wolf You Feed (feat. Alissa White-Gluz) [singer from Arch Enemy]

They also both have new albums coming out over the next couple months too.

Great reaction! A few interesting things about this performance.... no rehersal, and Tati's mic wasn't turned up enough for the beginning of her part so the audience couldn't really hear her at first. Spiritbox thankfully mixed it and released it so we all can enjoy this amazing collab. \m/

@danw6048 Well, he had to, really -- seeing how badly the FOH mixer had screwed things up. It wasn't Spiritbox's fault, but they felt that they owed it to Tatiana.

@@johnbriggs3916 I am impressed by the speed in which he did it, especially considering they were still touring. After their Louder Than Life performance on 9/29, they had only 2 days off before a show on 10/2 and 10/3 (the day the video was uploaded). I very much agree that the world needed to witness how Tatiana knocked it out of the park with no rehearsal. Tatiana delivering the line "I climb the altar and I claim my place as God" gives me chills every time I hear it.

It's my favorite thing that happened in 2024. 😊 Jinjer is more what I know. There's a couple of dozen videos I feel like are vital Jinjer videos you just can't miss haha but I'll try to narrow it down. Starting with omvs that stood the test of time: I Speak Astronomy, Home Back (about their hometown being caught in the 2014 war, but took an expanded significance after the 2022 invasion), Teacher Teacher, Vortex, Green Serpent (new, but an instant classic about alcoholism). For on Stage performances: On The Top live in Kiev (now Kyiv) isn't the most spectacular in any one way but it's an all-round great song, performance, and video. Pit Of Conciousness live in Kiev is possibly their most impressive video. Sit Stay Roll Over live on Melbourne has more cool vocal tricks in one video than any other performance I've seen recorded. Judgment & Punishment has two great live videos so maybe a double feature with the one take and Melbourne performance both being great - the omv is fun too though, choices choices.

This performance was unrehearsed. Josh Gilbert (bass, backing vocals clearly audible here) took the tracks from the soundboard recoding and remixed the stuff the following days after the event. Early footage on TT, YT, FB, Insta, evidences that Tatiana's vocals were barely listenable in the live sound mix 😢 Well decided, this concert clip will make it above 100mn views in less than on year and help to push Spiritbox' and Jinjer's stellar trajectory.

Flautist not flutist 😂 lol
@NittPiccКүн бұрын
“Flutist” was first recorded around the 1600’s. Flutist, Richard Rockstro has a 3 volume treatise called “The Flute” written in England in 1890 and used terms like “flute-player,” “fluteist,” and the least favorite, “flutomater.” I think we dodged a bullet with that last one. Nancy Toff, the great American musician, prefers to be called a flutist. She even wrote extensively on the subject in her book, aptly named "The Flute Book." "Ascribe my insistence either to a modest lack of pretension or to etymological evidence; the result is the same,” she explained. Another big name in the flute game, James Galway, also prefers that you leave the flautist term behind. "I am a flute player not a flautist,” Galway said. “I don't have a flaut and I've never flauted."

@ thank you for the detailed explanation, but I’ve never heard a professional flute player called themselves a flutist it’s always been pronounced the other way. Even when I was in band 100 years ago when I played the saxophone lol. Just hearing it pronounced that way it was grating to the ears I guess.
