Entp who isn’t sure he’s a 7w8 or 8w7. This video was super helpful for understanding the differences. Thank you!

Exact same boat here. I am also an ENTP and not sure if I'm a 7w8 or an 8w7.

This video help explained the differences more than anything else has. Unfortunately I'm still unsure if I'm an 8w7 or a 7w8. I can relate to each, MAYBE the 8 slightly more in most ways except that I am not extremely decisive. I fumble over decisions more like a 6, however when I finally do make that decision -my mind cannot be changed. This is tough. I wish it was as clean cut to me as knowing I'm an ENTP is.

Another thing to do with commitment: very relatable to my 8w7. Once I decide to commit to something I will spend weeks obsessing over that one thing, and nobody can tell me otherwise. It took weeks for me to fully break up with my ex too, I simply couldn't let it go and kept trying to fix things even though it was clear it was already dead. I will have obsessions for months at a time and then move on to the next thing once I decide it is worth committing to more. That sort of thing also shows again how easy it can be to confuse 7s and 8s as they will also be flitting between commitments sometimes, but I think the difference with 8s is that we see things through stubbornly and once we consider them done they're done and we move on, whereas 7s simply havr a hard time choosing what to do and tying themselves down.

As an 8w7, I think what you said about commitment is really important. I actually like to be tied down and grounded, as long as it is me who ties myself down. I value security in my life and actually often dislike being surrounded by options with no sense of direcrion as I can feel like I am floating and/or lost. I commit quickly to relationships etc and I have never had serious issues with a FOMO in that sense. I like things to be decided, and I like to know I have assurances if that makes sense - especially in terms of a relationship or job. I do hate being employed and I am working at being self employed, I feel that I want to be reliant on myself and not another and want to make my own money and live my own life to my own schedule. I don't particularly feel a NEED to control others and like you say, I don't think it is particularly about controlling others but controlling your own environment, and that sometimes that inevitably extends to controlling those close to you, which I believe actually often happens subconsciously - - I don't particularly intend to control others but, assessing my behaviour, I often do and say things to people who I view as threats in what I can only describe as an attempt to nullify those threats. Thank you for this explanation, I found it really helped me get my thoughts in order!

Thanks for the well made video :D It really helped me out with trying to figure out 7w8 or 8w7! You know how to say things right and actually made me see the proper difference. Your voice is pleasant so it's even easier to listen to (I hate watching typology videos mind you, so that's big in my case). Clearly, you know what you are doing. Much appreciated!

As an 8w7, I'd just add that when I'm alone, I don't mind facing and dealing with my heavy emotions (sadness, despair, feelings of meaningless and depressive thoughts). Most of the time, I'll listen to music to achieve catharsis. But again, most of this takes place when im alone. My type 7 fiancé has to be pushed to this. When alone, she'll do 7 things at once.

My 23 year old daughter is an esfp 7w6 and she loves variety, new experiences and people but it can be hard for her to focus and commit too long to jobs, relationship, etc. so that is how I figured out her wing is likely 6 not 8. She is like a butterfly flitting about. I am a 6 probably 5 wing and tri type 692 and we are so different. We have had major power struggles. So this helps me understand her better. I am also a Christian. Thanks so much Jennifer..love your videos!

Thank you, this video helped me exponentially in typing myself. As an 8w7, I think you described both 7s and 8s to a T.

Wow! Really helped me understand the things that I didn't agree with in type 7 and realizing that it fits perfect with 8. THANK YOU!!!

I relate to both, but almost more to the 8, but what’s bugging me is the second guessing nature of my adhd. I’m trying to differentiate the characteristics of the enneagram types and my adhd. I would say that my yes means yes and vice versa but I’m always trying to see if my thinking can be improved, I’m not really doubting myself but I’m always questioning what would be the best statistically etc I’m an entp btw, Thought I was an entj with adhd for a while.

awesome!! thank you :) ENFP here~~Enneagram 7w8. this was hella-cool & so right on!! I JUST took the test, and, wow, i can't believe how, out of 9 types only, i can fit so snugly into just 1 of them. thank you :)

this has been really helpful as an ENTJ who sometimes scores as a 7 and sometimes an 8. but i still don't know which i am. makes me wonder if we can't all be comfortably crammed into one column.

I definitely have a “thing” but I also love variety and moving from one thing to the next. I am pretty sure I’m a 7, but I lean hard into my 8 wing.

I know this video has quite some time out, but I just came across it, after watching other videos of yours in my quest to trying to understand what type am I. I seem to be an 8 with a strong 7 wing, but I'm an ENFP and that doesn't seem to be normal. Any thoughts there? I can totally relate to the strong 8 qualities, I don't doubt things or relationships and I do feel that my core motivator is to be in control of my life, that's what moves my zest for independence, but still, I can see how in many stressful situations in my life I can be more of the 7, I even made my friends read the description of the seven and they think I am both!. I do like variety throughout my day, I even change my physical location because the external world kind of feeds me, which sounds more like a 7, I love variety but then I like intensity as well. And btw, as an ENFP, I totally like your way of communication, how you develop ideas and externalize them is so mesmerizing, I guessed it immediately that you are an INFJ haha and bingo!!! Anyhow, I'd love your comments on my confusion with the 7, and about being a possible 8 and ENFP too. Thanks!!

I'm also an ENFP! As for deciding between 7w8 vs 8w7, I had to introspectively dig deep into my core behaviors and habits. I've realized that while my ADHD gives me a lot of 7 traits, my core self is an 8 with a 7 wing

@@h00liaa Heyyyy!! After having posted this comment 6 months ago (from my other account), and of having studied deeply me and the enneagram I understood that I'm a 7w8. If this helps you, I even made a video about it, and I started my own KZbin channel. Hmmm. Craving variety is more like a 7w6 thing IMO. Im a 7w8 and I can be just as focused as a 8w7. Would you say that the 8w7 and the 7w8 are two most aggressive types?
@kristofferjohnsen40027 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you're an 8 then. The search for variety is at the absolute core of the 7. If that doesn't fit you're likely not a 7. 8w9 would be the second most aggressive type, 8 is still a much more aggressive type than 7.
