My name is “Wingit” and I am attempting an Appalachian Trail 2024 Thru Hike - without much of a plan, in fact, I am Winging it along the way. Here is another day I am grateful to share with everyone.
Today I hiked my way out of Shenandoah National Park, capping off a 16.5 mile day. Still extremely hot outside and still no rain. I made it to a tent spot which was actually an open field with zero trees to hang my hammock. Because of this, I had to push further north where I found two trees directly along the AT.
On today’s hike I discuss words being empty, such as the phrase “I am fortunate, or lucky, or blessed to be on this journey”. I see life so much differently than most and I don’t see it the same way as most. I could use those words to describe myself before the trail or wherever I am at. It’s all a matter of perspective and perception. I could be fortunate with my grandkids or on a job site somewhere and everyone else is fortunate as well. We all have the capability to feel fortunate. We’re all lucky and we’re all blessed; many just lack the ability (or awareness) to recognize it in ourselves.
Please let me know your thoughts and if you haven’t joined us on this journey, please subscribe and join us as we all trek the road together.
DONATIONS - My needs are met so
ANY & ALL donations will be utilized to help less fortunate hikers. Many are hiking with minimal food & substandard gear, infrequent opportunities to get out of inclement weather, do laundry, or acquire a bunk at a local hostile. Many survive by donated gear from hiker boxes to experience the magic of the Appalachian Trail.
I believe the gift is in the give and utilize every opportunity to be of service to others; on the trail and off. I do what I can, any additional contributions will further validate the AT Mantra “The Trail Provides.”
Love & Peace,
“Wingit”
