I'm really excited for colorspace, reminds me a lot of Data Wing, really loved that game. Are you going for a similar story or something completely different?

May I ask something personal?Aside from gamedev,what did you do for a living? And as a high school student who wsnted to make games,do you think I should focus on my Exams and enrolled in a University first before learning gamedev?
@MrEliptik8 ай бұрын
Before gamedev I was a software engineer. I think you can definitely start learning on your own if you have the time and energy. Making games as a hobby is awesome and you're going to learn a ton. Continue working on your exams and University though, it will probably help you in the long run especially if you want some sort of stability.

there will never be a right time to make art. first, you wait until you're done with uni, then you need to find a job, then you're too busy working, and eventually you spent your entire life without creating you don't have to spend all day doing game dev, as long as you have a schedule you'll likely still make stuff, just gonna take longer

May I ask for personal interest why did you made only $5k with the course if you do have 1207 enrollments?
@MrEliptik8 ай бұрын
Because the price fluctuates a lot. Udemy often puts it in promotion especially if you're a new udemy user. There's also a different revenue share if people buy the course from my link or through Udemy search for example.. This results in a much lower average price per course than the price I originally put

I've seen a Revenue Calculator for Steam, and after taking off the sales, regional pricing and Vat you get already only 35%, and then after Steam cut and returns you end up at maybe 1/5 of the original predicted income. And that doesn't even include your income taxes, which is usually another -30% cut, leaving you at 15% of the original predicted income. Aka you need to sell for 7x more than the profits you need to get. Which is pretty depressing.

One way to be fast and efficient is to create sequels of the same game. For instance, take 'Béton Sanglant' and make a sequel, then another, and so on. Great channel tough, keep up the good work!! 💪❤
@MrEliptik8 ай бұрын
Yeah that's true, but for that you need to like the initial game enough, which is not necessarily the case! Thanks 🤟
