SPOILERS AHEAD! sorry i guess i just wanted to vent a little. decided to watch this movie yesterday because of this trailer, thought it will be something easy and mild for my tired brain. and while i overall enjoyed the movie, the ending felt so forced to me. like, sadly, i had a similiar story with my own bff - we were besties for about 15 years, i couldn't imagine even a day without talking to her, we knew everything about each other and she was... well... my best friend. but then we hade a huge fight like this because of one third-wheel manipulator, some hidden secrets rose to the surface (like in the movie, the secrets were kept just because they weren't that serious and each of us had their own problems to deal with like work and depression, so we didn't want to dump more on each other) and we’ve stopped talking. also, i can relate to lucy’s character a lot - i was also under a shadow of my easy and outgoing risky best friend, though she really tried to get me out of my shell like jane did, i guess it is something that doesn’t need to be forced. when we fell apart, i met some other people, made other friends, explored my sexuality just like lucy (i was a virgin till 26, while my friend already had some long-lasting relationships and was much ahead of me) and simply opened up to the world. while we were apart, i did a lot of stuff (good and bad, i’ve really let myself loose lmao) and every time i’ve felt my friend’s absence in my life - i wanted to tell her about my every new adventure. though after some time we came back to each other, told that we miss each other, that we're sorry, but it was never the same afterwards. we tried to talk and hang out like usual again, but the feeling wasn’t there anymore. and with some more time, we just stopped communicating at all and that friendship became a distant memory. and while i really miss her still and i am truly grateful for her in my life, i just know and i’ve accepted the fact that it won’t work anymore. that’s why that final scene felt so unreal to me - maybe because i’ve lived that situation and it ended up differently for me, maybe i’m simply jealous, or maybe it’s actually unreal cause it’s so hard when you have such a huge gap between your lives now, and that you’ve finally did things that your friend wanted you to, but she wasn’t there when it mattered.
