Am I passing on schizophrenia?

Given the genetic component of schizophrenia, am I selfish for having a child?

Congratulations on your baby girl! I pray your wife heals well and is able to enjoy every moment with you and your child! Love and Blessings to you and your family! I was a new parent 22 years ago. I am also schizophrenic, and last year my daughter experienced a break as a result from having Nexplanon removed from her arm. She was treated at the Johnson Unit and transferred to a care facility for 3 weeks. She is seeing a psychiatrist and was seeing a counselor. She is now taking an antipsychotic and is experiencing no hallucinations or delusions. She doesn't believe she is schizophrenic. She believes that it was the contraceptive being removed that she experienced hallucinations. Nexplanon does have horror stories connected to it. There is a pending lawsuit against the manufacturer.

Thank you! I appreciate your kind words. I'm sorry to hear about your daughter, but I'm also glad she's doing better. When considering the stigma still surrounding schizophrenia it's understandable why she wouldn't want to identify as someone who had/ has the illness. My prayer is that it doesn't return within her and that you also find lasting relief from this wretched illness. Thank you again, Kimberly

Hi, i'm diagnosed with schizophrenia. But the side effects are horrible should i stay on my meds? I dont have positive simptoms
