My associaton w/ David and Paul has been educational and positive and they have both been so supportive of me. Yes; I built that test guitar while consulting for Collings, and David, Paul and I used it on the DGT pickup thing. But here's the thing about David and Paul: They are both VERY tonally aware. ( !!!) David has been in my shop, and shown me his ability to "squeeze" tone out of a messed up acoustic guitar to the point of making my jaw drop. E. Johnson showed me that too, way back when ... . I may have helped these folks, but they have all been my teachers (in the extreme). Paul and David are both generous, open, and real. The reason the DGT is so good is their unending dedication to excellence, and the openness, and DRIVE ( both analytical and instinctual) that's needed to go above and beyond. Thanks for mentioning my name, David. That's nice. What's more nice is to be gifted w/ knowing folks like you and Paul. There's not one HINT of mediocrity, settling for less, or complacency with those two. Just 2 guys continously pushing the envelope. .... Pretty cool.

In 1981, I started taking lessons from a phenomenally talented DC-area guitarist named Bill Kotapish (of 70s-80s prog rock band 'However'). Bill's main guitar was one of Paul's earlier builds, from his parents' house in Annapolis, MD. It had nearly all the features of modern PRS guitars, including the exact same bird inlays and highly carved top, though the body was solid mahogany (no maple cap). The two pickups were old Gibson P90s, which I believe had been fitted into rosewood(?) cases and mounting rings. It also had Schaller's slightly more adjustable take on the Junior's one-piece stud-mounted bridge. The entire front back and neck had a beautiful mahogany stain, with a satin finish, and just a bit of woodgrain texture...organic in a sort of 70's / Alembic kind of way, but more "rock". It was SO beautiful and played like butter. Okay, so maybe the DGT doesn't have the bird inlays or Paul's sweat on it, but it's phenomenal how modern guitar manufacturing techniques have advanced to the point that a guitar that a person might grow with for a lifetime is available for under $1K. What a great achievement!

Love Paul's guitars. I had a CE24 I purched in the 1992 and loved it. We as a family fell on hard times in 2005 and I had to sell it and all my gear to keep a roof over our heads. It's now 2023 and I am slowly getting back to playing and acquiring gear again and Tim is killing my GAS syndrome at the moment. Well I guess to Sweetwater I go this weekend.

The last guitar I bought was a CE24. That was 6 years ago. If it ever comes down to mortgage and food vs that guitar, I'll happily live on the streets. That guitar sounds so great and plays so well, the only way anybody else is going to get it is when they pry it out of my dead cold hands.

Grissom is one of those dudes...like kind of unknown, but respected... He's been doing it for a long time, I did some sessions with him... Really good, tasteful, 'play for the song' kind of guy. He's got it in the hands. His notes are HIS. Am so happy he's getting the recognition he really deserves.

Recently stumbled across your channel while poking around the online guitar universe, and I'm thrilled you're out here making magic! Like zillions of guitarists, I've had a little bit of underground local success here n there a lifetime ago, but I haven't really played much in the past 25 years. Your enthusiastic love for the gift, skill, and craft of all things guitar has inspired me to pick it up again, in my 50s. W00T! Am I expecting Washburn to come knocking on the door of an unsigned, unknown guitarist with an endorsement deal for their Stephens steel gring single cutaway? Nope. No cafe, college, and winery tours for me. Just gonna tap back into the joy. Thanks for being awesome. You are indeed an inspiration.

Just got one after waiting most of 2023 for it be in stock for immediate shipping. In a word, fantastic. This is in no way anything less than a professional quality guitar. In the last 20 years, the quality and consistency of low to mid-priced guitars has skyrocketed. And the DGT is really the PRS model that checks all the boxes for me in features, so I'm incredibly happy with this instrument.
