I dont comment a lot, or much at all, ever. I've been watching you and your growth for years and cannot express how much I personally *and probably many others* watch your channel for YOU not just for the content (which is also great no matter what) but just to see you. I've sort of leaned on your videos new and old to get through rough times or just to put on to listen through again (recently the below zero playthrough). You're missed when you take needed breaks and its always so exciting to see that upload notification when you come back. I know I'm speaking into the comment section abyss but its gotten me through family deaths and a divorce so I cant overstate it. You mean so much to so many people and when you decide to leave KZbin a lot of us will still be here, watching and rewatching because we WANT to not just because your channel is available but we genuinely enjoy you as a person. You take care of yourself and we will always be here to support you. When the time comes that you leave KZbin I hope you have the time and ability to do whatever you dream of, that you're able to get done anything you put your mind to (and healthily) because you deserve it and any great things that come your way❤

Dude I'll be 22 in a couple of weeks and I've been watching you, mark and others that have retired quite a while back, for I don't know how many years. Probably started when I was around 14 and didn't really understand english all that much. As a kind of "grown up" who has a job and lives on his own now, I really haven't been watching you or any others actively for a while, but instead went back to rewatch some older stuff. I don't wanna say I grew out of it, but I kind of did in a good way. And yeah, being able to understand and kinda relate to some of the things you said, it makes sense that you'll retire some day. No hard feelings. Keep it up for as long as you want to do it and don't force it is what I've learned. Even if you'll probably never see this message, I wanna sincerely thank you for the cool time you gave me during my childhood and always putting a smile on my face back then. Cheers. :^)

I remember when I first subscribed to you, you had 4,000 followers. It’s been so amazing growing up with you. You helped me in some of my darkest times. You’re such an important piece of my life, I’m turning 22 this week. I’ve watched nearly every single video you’ve ever put out. Your content is great to watch no matter what the vibe is. I’m so proud of you man, you’re so inspiring. I have my fair share of mental health issues, and it makes me so happy you’ve always been so open about your own personal struggles. I love that you have breaks for yourself and I always support them. I’ll check if you’ve come back, I know for me I miss you. I always hope that you’re doing well. You’ve made such a huge impact on my life in beautiful ways. The amazing thing about you, is that no one else is like you. My whole life I’ve felt so out of place and different, but you made me feel like I wasn’t alone. Being different is your super power, no one can do this shit like you can. You helped me learn to love who I was, because if I could relate to you and the things you enjoy, then I was a pretty fucking cool person. When the day comes and you’re ready to close this chapter and begin your next, I forever support you. Thank you for everything. - Sincerely, a fan crying while typing this

Thanks Sean, I appreciate these kind of honest videos from seasoned creators. A lot of younger/new KZbin creators don't understand how hard it is and how long it sometimes takes to be successful, like they expect quick income-sustaining-career-level success but don't understand the difficulties of oversaturation, algorithm, stress/mental health, etc. And they end up absolutely hating what they once loved.

Much respect to you Sean. There is absolutely nothing wrong with needing to take a step back, take alook at your life and re-evaluate what you want out of it. Which can be that much harder when dealing with mental health at the same time. It's hard to see what you want and what feels good to you when all you feel is bad most if not all of the time. It takes time to look at the "why" you feel bad? Is it something you can fix? And slowing down to build your self back up takes time. Whatever you decide to do i wish you the best with your future endeavours and that you take good care of yourself going forward 👍

I know that you and him have most likely read comments just like this one before, but genuinely from the bottom of my heart, I am so happy to have been able to grow up consuming the art that you and him have put out over the years. It's so good to see and know that things like depression and anxiety are things that even the most seemingly invincible people can deal with.

The thing I have always admired and respected of you is your genuineness and openness, and with this video you made me cry - because I totally get you. I mean, I'm not a youtuber or anyone others would look up to, but I do struggle in my life with the very same issues as you do; depression, anxiety, all or nothing -mindset.. it's all here, too. And I want you to know, you are enough. You are always, always enough, more than that, even; even when it doesn't feel like it. There are so many people who feel better because of you, because of what you do, me being one of them. But I also understand the need to step away from some things and find out new paths; and I wish you will find the joy and meaning into your life and work, and whenever it is time, you'll go adventuring the way that makes your heart happy - we will always be grateful of these years with you nonetheless.

Man, it's so incredibly validating to hear Sean talk about his mental health and how it affects him. Him saying that he gets an idea, but he doesn't have the energy or focus to see that idea out is how I live my everyday life. It's so hard to be creative when you never want to create. Just wanna tell you, Sean, that we're there for you. You've been there for us for over a decade. Thank you for being a voice to feelings so many of us share.

Really well said man. I related to him so much when he mentioned the feelings of self-doubt, and how he both wants to do sth but doesn't have the motivation and energy to do it (for some this may sound contradictory but I gotta say, this is definitely a feeling that plagues many of of these days) I was honestly taken aback by how vulnerable and open he was in this video, and it's not like he wasn't in other videos he posted about his personal life, but this felt a little different. Like he wasn't specific when detailing his struggles but he mentioned so many of them that I honestly had to think about what it's really like for a youtuber to constantly and forcefully have to be conscious of viewers and their views towards oneself, and how that could easily branch out into various kinds of negative thoughts that we would never even imagine that that person would go through. I could tell he was holding back some emotion when explaining some of his mental struggles too Sean, if you're reading this, I've thoroughly enjoyed ur content ever since I was in middle school and I still do. I've always been happy to see your personality shine, and your distinctive interest and attention to detail as you play/review games. If you feel the need to rest and focus on other things in your life, we absolutely support it man. And just know that many others like me have, and will, continue rooting for you and are always happy to see that blue dot appear on your channel icon. Take care champ~!!!

We’re just glad you were online making content. I will never be able to appreciate you as a full-fledged person, because all I have known is your content, and that is everything I CAN know about you… but in New Year’s week of 2022/2023, you saved my life by making Life is Strange content a long long while ago. Your hobby was the beginning of my whole metamorphosis. You only dilly-dallied around, and somehow it turned my whole world upside down in the most beautiful and bizarre way. I finally found myself having emotions and getting new knowledge and being able to analyze characters again. Max Caulfield (and some of the content I saw about her VA tbh) helped me to unmask my awkward Autistic traits and they eventually saved me because I had suppressed so many mentalities that were useful and altruistic and intelligent and helped people. I learned the same stuff from you for ages beforehand, because you had a little wisdom integrated into your content and reminded me of my own suppressed autistic traits with your way of thinking and expressing yourself. I figured out how sad it was that I hated myself for things that were absolutely lovely when you and Max Caulfield did them. I started to have nothing but pride for traits I used to hate myself for. I couldn’t hate myself for them anymore because that would have made me hate people I grew to love so much. I don’t know where I would have been if you weren’t here. I don’t think I would still have been here, not because of my own actions, but because I literally was not in control of the danger of my situation and I was so deep in my depression/disability that nothing would have been able to motivate me to get out. I would have had no motivator to save my own life if I didn’t come across your content of Life is Strange, because I just started wanting to play the game so much. It’s how I got my apartment. I just wanted to play what JackSepticEye played! I hope you have felt the same way on KZbin, I hope this time has served you a sh8t ton of love and I hope you have had moments where a positive domino impact was made on your life because of people who are just dilly dallying around. If it’s okay, I personally hope you don’t delete your videos once you retire. I can be complacent with it if you decided not to post any more because you’re such an important person and your health means more than your content. But your content was the way my life was saved. And so many other people…. And to be honest, if you wanted to take your videos down, I fully support that, too. It’s your decision, I’m just voicing my own hopes. You deserve the freedom to choose what you think is best. You deserve to focus on your in-person family and friends, Jack. One day, I hope you turn to a life surrounded by people who know you as a whole person, since I assume that you know something of the “loneliness of fame”. Take care of yourself ♥️

I feel so bad being late to watch this video, family and school overwhelmed me a bit. You are an amazing KZbinr. Im so sorry that you have been burning out, its never fun. I understand all too well getting in ones own head as well as depression and anxiety. Something i learned in therapy is Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and it works well with me and my issues. I recommend it to a lot of people and its made my life so much different. I do have my moments that I'm not ok and wish to self harm or go even further if I'm a bit too far into that mental state sadly, but some of your videos made me laugh and come out of it. I'm just one person in the whole sea of people but you have made me smile, laugh, and introduced me to diffrent games that i dont think i would ever play (mostly because my brain doesnt understand it.) I love that you play games that brought you nostalgia, cute little games, one of mine is Little Misfortune, Little Hope, and Fran Bow, games you want to share your excitment with us. I love seeing the new games, dlc's, your excitment and some moments of the game suprising you in some way, how you..... I want to say put yourself as if you were actually the charater and the comedy from that. I try so hard not to laugh at night because of something in one of my favorite play through. I love how you go into the lore a bit on your favorite things, supporting smaller game developers. All in all you have done amazing things in your years, and it still suprises me how close we are in age and the accomplishments that you have done. I know it might be hard to accept this thanks to your "bully brain" (when your brain is being mean to you) but i really do mean it from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Dont burn yourself out, do what you want to do. You are successful no matter what you do. Be safe, take your time with your health mentally and physically, cant wait for the next video when you do it. Dont forget to love on your Kitty :3 Also have to say, You're one of two KZbinrs that my Bearded Dragon will actually watch lol.

"I am horrifically depressed. I mean, I'm exagerating-" is such an ADHD feeling. Like, I feel depressed but I'm also hyper, so I undermine my own sadness. Also, so many people now are putting ADHD on blast and saying it's fake, you're just lazy, everyone strugles, etc. so we end up acostumed to questioning all of our problems... It sucks. It really sucks. I feel like I should end on a "positive" note but I couldn't really figure one out... "You're not alone" is a powerful message but also... Idk, wish I could say something else, yk? It's so difficult to talk about depression or sadness. People don't really know how to respond. The US especially fucking sucks at responding to it. But we're here for each other. Not only that, but the content you want to upload is beloved by all of us. Yes, I might not finish your Bloodbourne video, but so what? So many people did, and I enjoyed what I saw. But that doesn't matter because YOU were passionate about that, and that MATTERS. Knowing you are happy with your content is all we could ask for. But at the end of the day I'm sure its hard to truley feel missed by people you've never met in the type of enviorment youtube creates. The seperationof auidence and consumer is good to have to some extent. But when you struggle with anxiety or depression related negative self images and thoughts, stuff like that can be just another thing for it to latch onto, regardless of the reality. Plus with an auidence this huge I can't imagine the edgelord hate comments are easy to brush off, no matter how hard you try sometimes stuff just gets stuck in your brain.

But it's getting to the point where I'm ready to give up. Just on this platform. Cuz I'm getting sick and tired of people gaslighting me saying it's not the algorithm. Meanwhile I upload some bitch you where I do much better where there's no algorithm whatsoever. Just be clear, technically speaking that's not a good thing. Technically speaking the lack of an algorithm should be doing a disservice to my content. Because without an algorithm there's no curation. With no curation it means the only way I can notice by new people is if I have to upload at the right time. And when I say the right time I literally mean the right time of day, let's say 5:00 p.m. in the evening when people are up but at home and relaxing. Videos on that platform's homepage are in order of what's been uploaded that minute to what's been uploaded throughout the day. And somehow I'm doing 10 times better on a platform with no algorithm then I do on KZbin for the 3 years I've been on both platforms. My contact is on this account by the way if you want to check the numbers. Play let it be known that I might just have to subscribers, but viewers and all in all general engagement. So do not be confused by my 120 plus subscribers. Cuz not a goddamn one of those people watch me and I don't even know why the hell they even subscribed., they're probably not even getting any notifications so they think I have it uploaded in months or years. 😑 The more I'm on this platform the more and more subscribers become absolutely pointless. The number of people subscribers completely meaningless. Whatever your engagement rates are at, clearly if you're happy enough to be content with them then that's great man. Good for you.

Personally, I think most of the response to the notion of Sean quitting comes from a good place but is the wrong way to react. Unnus Annus showed us and told us that this WILL end, it was the whole point of the channel, and MatPat solidified it for me cause I think some of us didn’t really take that message to heart. I started watching when I was end of middle school start of high school and now I’m getting a masters in grad school, it’s been roughly a decade for me with JackSepticEye so of course it’s going to end and end relatively soon most likely. Whether it be a year from now or two. Instead of panicking and praying Sean stays, we should listen and be sympathetic because I doubt anyone here dismisses the fact that KZbin as a career demands a lot and takes quite a toll. Nothing lasts forever, especially in media creation or on the internet in general. At the end of the day, all we can do is support Sean in whatever endeavour he embarks on whether it be continuing JackSepticEye or moving on to new horizons. Don’t be sad it’s over, smile because it happened.

I feel some of this a lot, I'm around and following lots of artists, from youtubers to illustrators and writers and it feels like so many people are struggling. It's sad that people write such insensitive/horrible stuff. Tbh I think that says more about themselves than it says about whoever they're following, cause they could simply follow something they like instead. I personally like these more thoughtful videos you do occassionally do, it feels so relatable. It's good to hear you're doing something for yourself and finding ways to deal with everything and improving on things. While I'm probably more of a visitor than a biggest fan I am happy to hear you will be staying still, there's many games I wouldn't even have heard about without your channel and it's nice. So kudos and a good day :)

I am 38 years old. There is no one around me in my age range, save for my boyfriend, who shares my interests, video games, raunchy corny amazing jokes. Its very very lonely. Your content is like spending time with a friend. It reminds me that I'm not alone. There are people like me and its okay to enjoy the things I enjoy. Watching you, and Mark, and Arin and Dan, and Rhett and Link, help me to be okay being happy with the nerdy, silly, "childish" humor and content that I like. Liking games and silliness isnt childish and other adults enjoy it too. So thank you for being a core reason that i dont feel so alone. Thank you.

Even though I’m also a silent fan (too shy to comment, couldn’t always afford merch or attend shows), the impact of your channel and style of content has and will always be felt on KZbin. You were one of the originals, up there alongside Jenna, Mark, Felix, MattPat, and all the rest. Change is terrifying and seeing all the ogs slowly retiring and stepping away from the spotlight is such an indescribable feeling. There’s so much grief because we all grew up together, built a community, and watched you grow as well. But there’s also acceptance because we knew this wouldn’t and couldn’t last forever. Everything comes to an end and we understand completely that you need to move onto the next chapter. It’s so easy to get stuck in a cycle, but it takes so much strength and courage to move forward. We love you and we’ll miss you when the day comes, Sean. Just please stay healthy and be around for a long time. We’ll support you in whatever and wherever you go. ❤❤❤

I have throughly enjoyed your old videos time and time again. Now a days when i see you post a bee video its like "Oh! Jack made a new video!" I'm the same age as you are! And my sister introduced me to your videos when you had just moved from the cabin! It was wild to think that we"re the same age and to see how you've grown, and how you've changed me as adults! I have your PMA merch! And honestly it would be AMAZING if you pushed out that merch again! I know everyone says "This cured my depression!" But that PMA pin & Tshirt i have, make me smile no matter how bad my days feel!! I always thought you were like Robin Williams, and i was like "i dont understand how this man is so positive & so full of energy all the time!" And wow! It's comforting a bit to hear that you have depression. (Thats so fucked up to say isnt it) Somtimes its nice to just lay in your bed, breath and feel your blankets under you. Just breath & listen to the sounds around you. It really helps when depression starts getting harder to deal with. We're all here for you! I have never heard of a Creator ever doing this ever. Why would he delete his videos? And no Unas Anus (I don't remember how it's spelled) is not a good example. That's what channel about & that was part of the whole point of the channel. Not everything lasts forever and they were supposed to be deleted to represent that. It was literally part of the project in representing what the channel was about. Otherwise, just wiping somebody's entire Channel after turning it into a career and retiring it's not something really anybody does. The only one who does that is KZbin themselves and that's only if they get too many unfair guideline or copyright strikes.

That was the true purpose of Unus Annus. Preparing up for the inevitable-seeing people and creators many of us have known for years leave. These wonderful creators know almost none of us, and yet they feel like trusted friends to their viewers. It sucks because you realize the connection you have with these people is kept up completely by them, and there’s nothing you can do to get them to stay in your life once they decide to leave.

@@IcycleBicycle then I think you missed the point. Obviously the majority of the content was silly nonsense, but from the very start the idea of the channel was founded on its impermanence. It’s going to leave in exactly one year. Just like how our favorite creators will eventually grow tired and leave too. There might not be a clock to mark the end of their channels, but a timer is ticking nonetheless. For a lot of them, it’s gone off now.

I think this is normal. What happens is you now have more competitors and new content creators coming in and people start to try out other channels etc. It can also be a case of you simply being burned out or your passion is not as up there anymore. Then there's also age, not only you but those who have been watching you has also been growing older and changing so they cant no longer be the same teenager watching jacksepticeye after school because now they might have a family or other priorities. Ultimately I think that passion is what really drives people even if there are barriers and bad days.
