How many grafts do I have still available in my donor area after my 2 FUE hair transplants?
In this video, I visited the HLC hair transplant clinic in order to have a consultation and find out how many scalp grafts and beard grafts do I have available for my next possible hair transplant.

I'm curious, if you have done 2 hair transplants and on finasteride, why are you still losing hair and need another one? Seems like the 3500 grafts you have transplanted should be enough to have covered your head?
@jfy3232
@jfy3232 2 жыл бұрын
@@dappa311 3500 follicles is not a lot, if I'm not mistaken the whole head has about 100 thousand follicles, I'm bad at math but 3500 to cover a whole hairline is too little, the correct thing would be 10 thousand or more

So a patient can choose FUE first & exhaust using FUE X amount of times, then decide to go with FUT to extract the remaining 1000-2000 graphs? I realize this is exactly the opposite way of correctly starting a transplant. Standard operating procedure is FUT 1st, then after all FUT operations are done which is 1 to 2, then proceed to FUE. Next million dollar Q, Which are the top 3 surgeons that perform FUT in Turkey?

MATTDOMINANCE Yeah it’s aggravating when someone says to just accept being bald. I’d rather not unless I have zero other options. It’s hard for me to believe that someone would willingly choose to be bald if they had options. I think it’s a bunch of crap. I’d still consider a hair system if that’s what it took.

Matt seems like one of the nicest guys doing hair loss videos and exposeing himself to the world, but i think hairloss will win in the end unfortunately. My opinion is that at the moment, finastride and minoxidil are your best chance to slow hairloss and maybe stop it. The truth is finastride does give many men side effect, but the hair transplant Doctors say its only 2% so you will go under the knife. Hair transplant are a waste of money if you cant stop your other hair from thinning out.

@@graeme1744 I don't understand how the docs say Finastride reduces serum DHT levels by 70% AND still say side effects are rare. Loss of systemic DHT by that much amount must have a consequence. Surely DHT is needed for several bodily processes or our body wouldn't be making it to begin with. Deutastride reduces serum levels by 95%, they still say side effects are rare. Horse shit! imo. a good number 2 guard shave with SMP would be ideal. You don't need that much hair to have the look of a full head of hair unless you're trying to have a style haircut,.. meaning one were you have to comb it. You are limited b/c of your light density and light hair and you're lucky to have what you have now. I'd consult with SMP artists and get multiple opinions on both harvesting more grafts and from smp artists.

Matt in my opinion your best option maybe a hair system in the future. I think hair transplants only really work for older patients who have mild/moderate hair loss. Because you are young and the hair loss is pretty aggressive I think personally you are wasting money on a battle you won't win with the current hairloss drugs/procedures. Matt, what I think you need is to go for FUT, to achieve higher survival rate. Your hair will probably serve well till the age of 40-45, and then you can simply go for the buzz cut. We know that transplanted hair lasts forever, and even if it eventually will thin out, it still will be covering a large portion of your scalp. Unfortunately, you won't be able to grow long hair, but it will look more than decent on you. Hope I explained my point well enough, good luck with the procedure!

4500 grafts later there is still so much bald area in the mid-scalp. Why is that? 4500 seems like a harvest large enough to cover hairline and mid-scalp without any native hair at all. Pardon me if my question is ignorant, and I understand that this is a 3-year old video too.

@Air T Would you rather have a better result from FUT, ie a more significant graft yield that can result in better density, and more coverage, or with FUE a significant less graft yield and the possibility of grafts not surviving the extraction damage from the punch. FUT leaves a linear scar that can be camouflaged using SMP and leaving the hair grow a little longer at the back. FUE produces thousands of tiny scars at the back and sides of the head which are exposed if the hair is too short FUT done properly can be undetectable and leaves room for more procedures to be performed if necessary.

@letsgethair

No, because I was just a NW3-4 when I got my 1st one. Ideal scenario for my 1st transplant would have been either: 1. 2500-3000 grafts FUE with more conservative hairline instead of 3500 FUE I actually got...or...2. waiting for more years until I reach NW 5+ stage and get a big strip. But if you don´t want to wait with your hair transplant for 5-10 more years as a 20 year old guy, then small FUE with conservative hairline is almost always the answer. You can always do a strip later after you got your first FUE

My naturally soft hair was never meant to have high density and that´s why I don´t expect it from my next hair transplant(s). I will push it further and use all of my grafts available while still respecting the "elegance limit" of my donor area, not disrupting its aesthetics way too much...By guys with fine hair like me who want to get a transplant you can not play the "high density game" but rather focus on naturalness and overall coverage. Stay tuned for more updates...Next week I´m gonna be discussing with another doc what would happen if I would choose FUT for my 3rd HT :)

matt as a guy that had transplants in late 90,s. and I can see you are chasing. ,every dr will take your money. also if you take FUT. and a strip is taken out its also. stretches the scalp so you lose the density that you are chasing, even if you had the hair , and you did the graphs you will stretch the scalp ,it also increases chances of scar are greater as will have to take a bigger strip to get the graphs, and the another. thing. to consider is that every transplant will shock the surrounding hair. and may not have the blood supply for tight scalp

You are so smooth even the hairs on your neck are not so dense. I have more hairs on my arms. Wouldn't arm hair be even more resistant to DHT than the hairs at the back of one's head? It's usually not as thick as beard hair, and mine kinda grows long and I have to trim it down. So I am thinking wouldn't that be a good option you think?

My hair specalists told me I can only have 2,000 grafts transplanted in one day safely and properly and that no professional would say they can transplant hair onto my mid-scalp where there is already hairs there. Also an update on my hair situation for those who read my last update comment. It's now been 6.5 Months since my 1800 FUE Hairline Transplant, 4 months being back on ReGaine and 7 months being back on Finasteride 2.5mg every Mon, Weds and Friday. My hair from Month 4-5 showed a huge difference in growth regarding all my hair, month 5-6 showed less growth than that previous month for my thinning hair. Now month 6.5 I'm starting to see a huge change again, its looking good in my opinion. However, like Matt, I'm having that issue where your transplant looks too good, and your thinning normal hairs look not as good. I always have my hair NOT styled and down so my plan is to try and get the hair from the top of my scalp to reach to my transplant and have the transplant only covering my hairline to look normal, with using Hair Fibres on my thinning hair to try and make the two blend together in thickness.

Chest grafts are obviously more softer and could help create feather like appearance when implanted on the temples even while beard grafts are more robust and shouldnt be implanted on the visible spots like temples or hairline. Beard grafts have longer haor growth cycle like up to 1 year while chest hair seems to have shorter cycle around 3-6 months or so.
