Lately, when I would feel sadness or disappointment because I feel like I cannot sense or stay as my true self because of daily distractions, I have been developing the habit of reminding myself that this is simply not true. "I am always here" is kind of my new mantra. 😊

For me it hasn’t been as much the seeing through the illusion of the seeming chooser, but rather having “him” realize it’s safe to let go and surrender to life. “I’m being held, it’s all a-OK” turned out to be key for me 🔑

Hahaha, ego says: "OMG, Angelo is reading out my comment, I must be on the right track!" :DD - This is just ridiculous and funny at this point. But beware of the spiritual ego, wow, this one has so many ways to establish itself. Feels like playing whak-a-mole when trying to explore into it, seems like the best way to be with this is just to let everything go again and again. What a funny and sometimes frustrating game this is becoming. There is amazement at all of this, and there is a lot of pulling into desctractedness, everything is being allowed now, because it just is, no one stiring this empty boat, but somehow there is forgetting of this, too. And always the remembering, oh right, no captain aboard, no one on board, actually. So weird, so beautiful!

It's a game of whack a mole that actually plays itself, but we've grown so accustomed to hearing the narrator in our head go: (I got that one, and that one, and I missed that one, what a loser, and I got that one and that one and...)

Dípa Maa was a being par excellence. But she is also celebrity-ized by the Noting-Vipassana community. What really happened only she knows but she did have fairly intense trauma (KZbin has her interview describing that) The idea that mediation practice causes awakening is sorta like photosynthesis causes earthquakes. They are different processes. With a long & strong meditation practice things do change eg patience, simplicity of lifestyle etc but soon one notices that it is also an identity /seeking game - I am more patient that X. Y is an advanced practitioner etc. One is back to square one. And becomes rather restless perhaps with the insight that if this much sincere effort cannot cause it they may never get awakened. Then someone like Angelo comes and says (his exact words): "Let go of all of that because it does you no good here. What were pointing to you can only enter completely disarmed which means disarmed of your spiritual baggage." Hmm wtf? Okay only place remaining which was being avoided. Awake nature finds itself on its own rather than anyone gets awakened or meditation or anything like that causing it.

When this came up in the notification feed, I was like what, who is Parmenides? After Googling I still don't understand but your answer made me laugh. And yup, time is something I've lost along whatever this thing is but it's meant freedom. It might be hard for people to comprehend but when you get it, you just get it and everything just flows so much more naturally. 😂 I should add that I do need to set reminders for everything but most of life flows just as it needs to and just how it should. 😊
@plantlove25859 ай бұрын
Had to google Parmenides, too and found some neat stuff: "Parmenides held that the multiplicity of existing things, their changing forms and motion, are but an appearance of a single eternal reality (“Being”), thus giving rise to the Parmenidean principle that “all is one.” From this concept of Being, he went on to say that all claims of change or of non-Being are illogical." - Sounds like the man was swimming in some non-dual waters back then ;)

How would a passionate political stance of the ego dissipate when it seems ultimately the right thing to do, to stand with the suppressed in a situation? Like how can you protest for peace and humanitarian need for everyone when probably that stance is also constructed? Do you get what I mean? Lol

About the sounds in the background, being distractive for some people, and not for others. I am one who cannot concentrate on the words if there is a background noise. This is not my mind not liking the background music, it is a hearing dysfunction, not a preference.
@snakedogman9 ай бұрын
I only have an issue with the background sound if it has too much of a recognisable melody. Because melodies (at least in my experience) are specifically "designed" to elicit certain feelings. Of course there is nothing inherently bad about this, but for me it's distracting because my brain just gets automatically engaged by the melody.

Part of the poem by Parmenidese: Come now, I will tell thee - and do thou hearken to my saying and carry it away - the only two ways of search that can be thought of. The first, namely, that It is, and that it is impossible for anything not to be, is the way of. conviction, for truth is its companion.. The other, namely, that It is not, and that something must needs not be, - that, I tell thee, is a wholly untrustworthy path. For you cannot know what is not - that is impossible - nor utter it For it is the same thing that can be thought and that can be.

Non Duality is an idiotic term to refer to the Oneness of All Things. We don't need to deny duality. We need to understand duality within the context of the Unity of All Things.

@@thatchinaboi1 You have one kind of experience of insight that you equate with understanding. I also have that experience of insight. I have another very different experience if insight that you don’t have (based on what you just said here). I am not the only one BRW there are many others. If you aren’t curious about that then really there is not much point in continuing the exchange. If you are curious about that that is another story. Usually the way into that curiosity is the recognition of one’s own suffering and the sense that that something can be done about it.
