Teaspoonful etc is when you you don't need to be so accurate, similar to Degrees C and Degrees F. But when using grams they are weighed accurately, instead of using a cup or a dash of something. The sockets have switches because we use a higher ampage and use DC, which generally ends you and not voltage (think of an electric lighter that can give out around 1000volts, if you've messed around with one and shocked yourself or someone else). I can't remember fully the formula at this point of time (hopefully right); but think voltage x ampage + time, that ends you. AC will generally bump you off if grabbed, but grab a wire that has DC going through it you won't be able to let go. So having a switch on it is a safety thing, plus you can save money from using a switch because some appliances will take a charge even when turned off. Also our measurements of pints and such are more by volume, look up the difference of a British pint and an American one for an example. Pigs in blankets here are small sausages wrapped around in bacon, the American version we will call Sausage Rolls. Indian food here is popular because of many people from India came here after WW2. Some fruits we get from mainland Europe because of our climate. Apples were introduced to America by Europeans, even Apple Pie is British with maybe a French influence (we were ruled by them for abit, the Normans). Which started the Magna Carta and later on the American Constitution was founded/based on it. Hopefully that clears up some things you asked about. Also Yorkshire is pronounced york-sure like New Hampshire.👍

I'm not sure what you think about us drying washing,in case you haven't understood we hang out washing on a washing line outside, even in winter dried outside, the line is 50 feet long ,it doesn't leave the washing stiff .

@@Average_Middle_Aged_American if you're in an apartment like me you hang the clothes in front of the radiators, or if it's a hot day just on the back of chairs inside, stuff is bone dry inside a few hours

While we would say "your pans are actually just Yorkshire pudding pans, they're just narrower and deeper" :P 17:45 you do realise that there are americans who watch this, who won't know about it being twice the voltage right? XD What can annoy me sometimes is when people don't mention that we don't just use kettle for tea, we use it to boil water for anything. I don't even like tea but when I get my own place, I will get a kettle to boil water, its so much faster boiling it then pouring it into a pot.

What is the advantage to having a kettle with its own base? Can't you just put a kettle on one burner on a stove? We have a kettle that just sits on the stove and when we want to boil water, we fill it up and turn on one burner. I assume one day I will have some American subscribers. LOL 🙂

@@Average_Middle_Aged_American Doesn’t boiling the water that way take the same time as boiling water in a pot? We have electric kettles because they boil faster and we pour it into the pot and on turn on the stove and it usually starts boiling almost right away. Surely putting a kettle on a stove and turning the stove on, takes a similar time to just pouring normal water and heating up the pot?

@twoeyedjack6836 - Only a few minutes but it is only one a day or so. Makes sense if you boil water a lot. Thanks!

Use teaspoons (we invented them) and tablespoons but everything else is weight. The digital scales are in metric and imperial weights and do fluids weights too. Weigh easier...

Pudding originally meant almost exclusively a savoury food. I believe it is more the way something is cooked that makes it a pudding. The way you (US) use the word is particular to the US.

You said she has a small place. Id say her kitchen is probably a typical size for a uk kitchen.

Tha main point about the fridge is most of us just dont have the space for the US style ones. Our homes are really much smaller than yours. (Small island, lots of people). Side note, i do actually have a (very) small laundry room.

@Average_Middle_Aged_American yes. My dryer is an energy efficient heat pump one so it takes ages. The laundry room has washer, dryer, gas water heater and a worktop with one cupboard. Kitchen has a dishwasher, fridge freezer (only slightly bigger than Alanna's). Kitchen is about 14 feet square (rough guess from where I'm sat).
