So excited for this! I have the G7X mark iii which is the perfect size for vlogging, but as we know, has "issues". I bought the M50 Mark ii and Sigma 16mm lens after your videos and they are amazing! They are perfect for sit down videos but I'm worried about how huge and heavy they are. I will also be curious to see if it's possible to vlog with this setup without a gimbal? I have 4 kids and I'm not sure if I can face adding even more bulk to my on the go kit, it's already like. moving house when we go out 😂 We have a Disney Cruise this summer and our first family trip to Florida in January (which I'll vlog for my second channel which is Disney focussed) and I really want the footage and sound to be as good as they can be without having to carry too much "stuff" xx

Yes for sure!! Even with one kid the extra 'stuff' struggle is real. I can't imagine 4! Add trying to look decent as a mom on top of that and then you have 18 bags 😂 I hope the video helped to answer this about vlogging with no gimbal. Definitely possible if you stick to the wide-angle lens. It will be shakier for longer lens B Roll- but I'd just use the G7x for that! Also the switchpod is very slinky and slim so stuffing the whole rig in a purse is much easier than with the gorillapod or other options.. Hope that helps!

Additional note- we are planning a Disney cruise as well but I'm totally not sure when (father in law is planning it) But if it happens before yours does then definitely expect some Disney cruise specific tips!

I do! I always have one of the Sigma lenses attached- usually the 30mm for photography or just general use. I am wishing for a good large aperture zoom, just to cover more bases for general 'walking around' use, but I'm still trying to figure out the best one for this camera. But in general, I use the same setup for both photography and video- it's just the settings that are different- and if I'm definitely going to do a handheld, front facing vlogging shot I will have the 16mm handy since it's the only one wide enough. @@AMAETV thank you so so much for replying. I have the 22mm and the kit lens. but find inside the house the 22mm can be a little bit limiting if light isn't great. I might try the 30mm for my photography. would you ever upgrade your camera for photography or your really happy with the photos the canon m50 gives you? I have a wish camera which is totally Over the top for the stage I'm at with photography but its the canon r6.its super expensive though. I hope by adding a lens to the m50, maybe I'll be happier with the m50 . I love how light weight it is.

Also, NOTHING to do with this video but I know you love the Rode wireless mics. Have you ever experienced interference in the footage? When I used mine with my G7X I (only sometimes) got a terrible high pitched noise. It's off for repair but someone said it could be something to do with the G7X wires not being sufficiently insulated? Sorry for the random question but no-one in my "real life" does what I do so I don't have anyone to ask 😂

Yes good question! But how were you using it with the G7x if there is no audio input on that camera? I've had interference before and I think it was because I was outside and my phone was nearby and it was searching for wifi signals.. because when I turned it into airplane mode that fixed the problem. OR, you can try adjusting the DB button.. it shouldn't be set to high unless you are very far away from the receiver.

Sure! Just press that little info button on the back and it toggles thru lots of different screen options and you should see it there on the image screen eventually 👍🏼

@@AMAETV Alicia, I finally figured it out. I had been testing audio capture using manual settings (i.e., sound recordings) and afterwards reset the camera back to auto mode. It appears the audio levels are only displayed when using manual settings. Thank you! John

Well I have been using the M50 for some time now.. but i dont like the record button on the display.. it doesnt trigger in a reliable way.. But.. I am happy now since i have been using the tiny remote control from canon, the BR-E1. Its tiny, in my hand and i can record or stop whenever i want without having to touch the screen or the camera. 4:50 the canon m50 can still have a clean hdmi out, if your streaming just hold down the info button and it gives you a clean out

Hmm, I've never heard that before.. Does it allow you to use AF and all of those things (I hear many features are limited) I do know Canon has special software for the original M50 that allows you to stream in the same way, but I'm not a streamer at all so I haven't used it. I just know the Mark II is supposed to make it all much easier!

I wanted your opinion on using the Viltrox Speed booster with Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM, as a vlogging lens. Is this a good idea? Or will the 24mm focal length give me vignetting.

If you're using a crop sensor camera like the M50 then a 24mm would be a bit too tight for vlogging at arm's length. You'd need at least an 18mm.. Of course if you're using a full-frame camera it's different. I have never used the Viltrox speed booster but hope to soon! Many Canon M50 users seem to like it.

@@AMAETV Thanks for the reply. And you're right 24mm would normally be too tight on APS-C camera because the focal length is 24 X 1.6 = 38.4mm full frame equivalent. But the speed-booster widens the shot and lowers the focal length by 0.71. So 38.4 X 0.71 = 27.264mm full frame equivalent. And the equivalent lens for the EF-M mount system would be 27.264 divided by 1.6 which is a 17.04mm. The f/2.8 is also multiplied by 0.71 giving you a f/2 aperture. I just yesterday received a Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 with VC which is Tamron's stabilization and it works the only drawback is the weight.

They are generally meant to be hidden, professionally at least. I don't really care whether it's showing or hidden in these tutorials but sometimes it's easiest to hide it. In this case, the shirt overtop helps to block out the wind too.
