Amana NTW4516FW3 fabric softener dispenser

Hi, nice video. Before you insert your fabric softener dispenser you need to insert the inner cap seal. It's Whirlpool part# W10074580. This prevents the fabric softener from dispensing into the lower agitator apparatus and clogging the agitator cams that make it work. The inner cap also aligns with the agitator dispensing outlets you showed where the fabric softener is released into the wash tub.

Dont forget the little plastic protective cover that goes in first, if you search the machine model # you should be able to find it, just saves ya some shipping costs by ordering both together!!!

I can only say that I did purchase this part for my new Amana and DO NOT waste your money. When you add the softener before the actual rinse the softener goes out with the laundry spin and rinse 1st cycle. Just set a timer and add the softener to the rinse cycle .

How do you know how long it is? i tried and I turned my cloths blue had to rewash them if put it in when it's on rinse it's to late.

Thanks for the video! I would pull that dispenser and inspect the dogs on your inner agitator cam to see if there is gunk buildup. I think this will be a failure point without the inner agitator cover in place. I just replaced a similar Amana with this NTW4516FW3, luckily I was able to use the original 8575076 (dispenser) and 3347290 (inner agitator cover) from the old machine. I was leery of using fabric softener without the inner cover so thankful I was able to avoid the additional cost and reuse what I had.

@@stranger5088 Cap for use without dispenser is Whirpool W10131109. Whirlpool W10074580 is the inner agitator cover (3347290) needed for use with the dispenser cup. Does that answer your question?

You need a cover for the agitator dogs cam if you intend to use it or softener will pour over there and is not supposed to. Part number : WPW10074580 And the spiral should have an hole on the side just above the cap lip to let the softener go out. Check if you have it and if you dont make one with a drill and you are set.

It's an hard plastic kinda transparent cap with a black rubber round seal. Put dish soap over seal lip to lube when putting it in place, push it down. You can see the line inside the spiral piece where it is supposed to sit on.

PLEASE READ: If you have one of those junky new Whirlpool machines and not the nice classic style; some of them offer the same classic agitator from the tried and true direct drive models, as long as it’s that agitator any of those dispensers for that agitator will fit, it’s no different than the ones put in the classic models. It’s just the motor and insides that are different. That softener dispenser was actually for the really older models form the 80s and 90s but it’s the same agitator and will fit any of them.

Is the extra rinse only for the regular cycles?! I noticed if you set to heavy, after washing, the drum will fill and begin agitating, and finally it will drain and spin.

If extra rinse is selected it will run 2 rinse cycles no matter what setting you are on, my selection is: deep water wash, on heavy level, cold sometimes warm water

@@damageincjeep4960 that was fast! I didn’t word my original comment correctly. Sorry about that! Would you recommend running extra rinses, when using fabric softener in all cycles? I use Deep water wash, heavy cycle or bulky items and sheets, and cold water for my laundry items.

Yep, you sure can!!, just have to catch the cycle on the rinse, I prefer the dispenser because we can add softener at the beginning of the wash cycle and not have to worry about forgetting or missing the rinse

Yes you can still use softener but you will have to add it directly to the rinse cycle, and you will also have to make sure that you use the deep water wash cycle

this has nothing to do with softener. Does the agitator fit tight or does it rattle around. I have a older unit(that came with a softener holder) NTW540....I don't know what is normal on the agitator. I would appreciate you checking that for me...or anyone else for that matter....Thank you.

I would say that rattling is not normal, if I had to guess, and I am I would say you need to replace the agitator dogs, if you go to a parts repair website and enter you model number most sites typically list the components that people search or buy most common to least common, and the agitator dogs are gonna be in the top ten, hope this helps

When removing it to look underneath, I realized it seemed very loose.(moved up and down and side to side) I tried to remove the piece inside to no avail. I will do as you suggested and maybe get a drawing....Thanks again.

@@damageincjeep4960 I looked for the dogs but they only came as a unit ( the whole cone..$125) so I didn't do anything about it. I bought a new wall oven and mentioned in passing to the tech that was installing it about the washer. Hey, I probably have some dogs in the truck. So he finished the stove, went out to his truck, went into the wash room, r and r'ed the dogs and I paid him $6 for them...Yippy. Good Guy.
