I have a Amana model BRF20TE, (P1199202we). The problem i am having is that it works for a few days and some times i hear some loud noise, then the compressor stop working and the fans in the freezer and the refrigerator also ssd's top working. After a few hours it start working and cooling very well, even msking ice. What do you think could be the problem and if it need a part, where could i find a reputable co that will sell it to me? Thank you.

How do you test the starter using a multi-meter?
@FixDotCom6 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott. Thanks for your question. To test the capacitor, take the multimeter leads and put the black lead to the negative side of the capacitor and the red lead to the positive side. The markings on the capacitor leads will most likely be a (+) and a (-). If the meter shows zero (0) and then moves slowly towards infinite, then the capacitor is working and does NOT need to be replaced. If the multimeter reading stays at zero (0) and does not move at all, then this indicates the capacitor is not working (open capacitor) and needs to be replaced. I hope this helps with your repair!

Mr. Fix.com. Thanks for your reply! Yes, that does help. Do you also have a method of testing the starter? I get 0 ohms across the input and assume that it's dead. Is that correct?

Sorry, should have said that I get an open circuit across the input of the starter. Does that means it's dead? Thanks!

Hi Fix,com (or anyone with knowledge about this matter) I have an Amana (made by Whirpool) refrigerator (model # ASD2522WRS). It is side-by-side model. The freezer side is not cooling/freezing the contents and the fresh food side is not maintaining a suitable temperature on the fresh food side. I removed the back panel and discovered that the fan that blows air onto the compressor is operating. The compressor is a bit hot to the touch (not sure if that is normal). The compressor turns on every few minutes for about 10 seconds and shuts off again. This cycle is continuous. Do you think a replacement compressor or compressor relay is required or perhaps an internal fan that pulls cold air into the freezer and out into the fresh food side of the unit needs to be replaced? Any recommendations on next steps and diagnosis of the problem(s). Thanks..a
