Update. The new part didn't help. Plus, it still made the shaking sound. Compressor clicks on, runs for a few seconds then clicks off again. Frustrated.

Great video! I had already fixed my Kenmore bottom mount freezer but wanted to check out what videos were available on here for research. This is a great video that shows anyone with a small amount of fix it skills to repair their fridge. If people knew how easy it was to fix their appliances with videos like this we could all get on with our lives and not have to sit around waiting for repair tech's like me to tell them what they could have watched in a couple of minutes in your video. The repair kit for my model was only $33 and took me 5 minutes to install. You do the math :-) Thanks for sharing.

My experience with the famous clicking and compressor not starting - 2010 Whirlpool model # ED5FVGXWS05, fridge and freezer were not cooling, compressor was HOT (the compressor was not turning on). I watched 12 hrs of videos about checking/shaking the start relays and listening for a clicking noise. I also watched videos on how to OHM out the compressor and it checked good. I removed the relay and heard some clicking but it didn't sound out of normal. So after talking to several appliance techs I decided to replace the start relay. I bought it from an appliance store where no refunds were allowed for electronic components ($60 gamble). No luck, relay did not work, compressor would try to start for 10 seconds then click no power). So, even though my fridge was 6 years old my compressor was bad and I was looking at $550 to fix it. Instead I rolled it to the end of the driveway, left a free craigslist post and bought a new one. Found out "maintenance" was required on your fridge every year to include vacuuming the coils, etc... Life long mechanic and never heard of that but from now on will make sure that I schedule with my wife an annual refrigerator coil vacuuming... FU Whirlpool and the $ u cost me...

Tried three different relay/capacitors. All had a bit of rattle right out of the box. I installed the first one three months ago and it failed. tried two more from different vendors but they all make a buzzing noise and the compressor refuses to start. Sounds like more of an issue with this 17 year old side by side Amana refrigerator. Will keep trying and thanks for the tip on the rattle. PS it would be difficult to accept that all of the relay/capacitors are no good right out of the box.

They all work, and the the compressor kicks on, but about 5 sec. in it clicks off again! And then does it's on and off thing just like before. Now what?? Is there anything else I can check or do? Would the compressor still kick on if it was bad? Thank you for any advice you might be able to offer! 🥰

Is what you call a starting device also called a condenser , if that part is bad can it cause the fridge to make a lot of noise like my old Whirlpool is doing? I don't know the model number - the tag with it seems to be missing and I don't know how to get the model number. Its 18 feet and the new ones similar to it are W8RXEGMWS

My question is how to determine if a problem can be the circuit control board. The model is a Maytag MFI2569VEM french door bottom freezer. Checked cap (12.2mf), sd, ohm comp, fan and lights turn on, reading when plugged is at 1.12vac when checking plug at start device. Is it suppose to be that reading? Nothing on the board looks burnt up but how do I check for board malfunction?
