I really can't see the UFC going on with the (women's) 145 division. Since quite some time there have not even been rankings for that division - probably because there aren't even enough women at that weight class in the UFC, certainly not Top15-worthy. I remember a while ago there was a Women's Featherweight bout which was a special thing to mention - and it turned out to be one of the worst fights (skillwise) in recent history. Amanda didn't defend that belt since March 2021 - there have not been any contenders anyway. So either the UFC is really looking out for UFC-worthy featherweights (why would they do that now and not have done it earlier?) or that division will be closed for now.

I think that Holly and Raquel should fight for the title. Raquel has won her last 3 fights and she beat Ketlen Viera who's ranked #4. Holly's ranked #3 and just beat Yana Santos who's ranked #6. Irene is #5 and she just had her shot. Julianna hasn't done anything besides beat Nunes when she was sick, then get MOPPED up by her for 25 minutes when she was healthy, have kids, and get injured. Let her actually win a fight first, not reward her for getting beaten up in a main event.

I'm a huge Nunes fan. But to say she's a double champ...we all know the 145 division is going to be officially retired. At 135 maybe Valentina moves back up? No disrespect to the fighters, but I wouldn't be mad if they retired that division as well. Moreso from a marketing perspective, even though I think the talent is really thin as well. Outside of Holly who else could headline an event? I don't think it's crazy to say the UFC focuses on 115 and 125 for the female fighters. And let the 135+ fighters go to Bellator, Invicta, and PFL. All the divisions go through ebbs and flows but at 135 I think it might be years before some marketable fighters emerge just bc the division is a lot of old-guard fighters that can win a decision at any given time, but I don't think a ton of people will be circling those fight dates on their calendar. But who knows? Maybe there will be another Cejudo for the 135 ladies that swoops in, fights to save the division and they can put together something special.

Only reason for her to stick around would be for money, she's already cleaned up both divisions. At 35 and the Pena loss, she probably figured it was the right time, doesn't make sense to teeter on the edge and risk another loss. Women's 145 will probably be retired now that there's no depth there, a weight class that was basically made for Cyborg.

She said at the post-fight press conference her leg is shot. She has nerve damage in one of her legs and that's why the last few fights she's been on crutches after the fight even if she completely dominated her opponent. Apparently, she's been told to stop throwing kicks and she threw a ton in the Aldana fight. Probably for the best to retire before more injuries set in and because she has another child on the way.

I didn't quite love that Amanda said that all champions after her won't be real because she's still around. If she's retiring she should try to build up the next group of fighters not tear them down with endless comparisons to her, especially considering that whenever it's just her on the card they fall apart. I spelled it wrong it's the atomweight division (which is also the minimum weight division) in women's mixed martial arts refers to fighters weighing in at or below 105 lbs (or 48 kg). That's a really popular women's weight class in a few different MMA organizations, but in particular it's really popular with one championship

145 is gonna be retired. Nunes didn't need to because she is the greatest regardless but I think she should have announced a retirement tour, and made Pena her retirement match win or lose. Granted she beat Pena already, but to get the rubber match and put a seal on her greatest rival, as well as announcing your retirement ahead of time, I think would have sold like hot cakes, and get those ppv points, it would have put a perfect bow on her career.
