Thank you Mel for another awesome video. You answered many of my questions. I was so shocked because I have used the same technique as Mel used here to "balayage" lowlights using demi permanent and also balayage highlights since the 90's on my hair but had no idea I was doing a "professional" job 😂. Amanda has the color & texture hair I had in my youth..sure miss having all that long thick hair. My eyes & now eyebrows are a lighter like Mel's so going a bit lighter on my hair. Really thinking about those extensions to get some added volume & length. Amanda is such a gorgeous bride.

Loved the advice on pre-treatment BEFORE doing a chem process on your hair. I’ve always been a big believer in getting it as healthy as possible first to mitigate damage later, and it’s the stage I’m in right now. I’ve neglected my hair pretty badly and it’s looking and feeling pretty ugly. Ima clean it up, trim it up, hydrate and protein for a while and see what it’s doing these days, lol.

Thank you for explaining the difference between highlighting curly vs straight hair! I tried two different hair stylists and both times the highlights got lost and I could barely see any highlights. I felt like I just wasted $250 down the trash each time. I was feeling so frustrated because I saw pictures of their work and their work looked amazing but my hair never turned out well. I realize now all of the pictures I saw were of straight hair. I never paid attention to it because I thought coloring straight and curly hair was the same. Now I know I need to find a curly hair specialist and hope I can finally have nice highlights 🤞

So here is me with my highlighted hair (done by a curly professional fortunately) thinking to myself "It has definitely been a while since I did a protein treatment"... Oops. That might explain a few things! But an actual question: How does the thickness/chunkiness of the highlights relate to your hair's texture? Like if you have fine hair, do you need something closer to babylights, and if you have coarse hair you need chunkier ones, or vice versa? I'm trying to decide if I even want to keep up with it because I tend to find mine just a few millimeters too... thin maybe? But not sure what the effect would be if I asked for slightly chunkier. My own hair is fine and curly (somewhere between yours and Amanda's pattern I suppose) and medium density.
