I think people feel that way because early on in her career, she was young so she didn't handle situations as well. Like making a big deal about how Joe Jonas dumped her over a short phone call when at the end of the day she was the one who hung up on him. This kind of behavior also happened in other relationships, John Mayer and Harry Styles come to mind. The only thing i held against her personally, was how she treated Nicki Minaj in regards to the VMA situation. I'm glad they worked it out, but this specific instance is why people label her as a "white feminist" Like I said she was young and its hard to be in a learning environment when you are also in the public eye. But these instances can be seen as playing the victim, so when real drama happened and she genuinely was victimized people couldn't differentiate it from the times before because her credibility at that point was a bit spotty. I actually LOVE reputation and the funny things about that album is that no one says it‘s average. They either love it or say it‘s taylor’s worst but personally i think it had a lot of impact (especially lwymmd) and it has some of my favorite taylor songs (i did something bad and getaway car)

I would just ask that everyone consider this: if one is constantly being victimized/villainized/manipulated/taken advantage of -- by the general public and other celebrities and/or industry reps, then it becomes increasingly difficult to not be seen as "a victim" if one dares to attempt to try an defend themselves. We need to ask ourselves, is it okay to accuse someone of "playing the victim" when the collective "we" are seemingly always victimizing them? Are they not allowed to defend themselves? I'm just going to defend Taylor here because... I can lol. But you say she should have disappeared for a year and then came back with a good album? She literally did, it may not be your taste but she went off the grid into hiding for a year to get her mental health back and wrote Reputation which is definitely different for her but if it was what she needed in that moment then so be it. (She also realises its not her best work as shown in the documentary). She doesn't exist just to please a few people. And almost every time she's played the victim is because she is the victim, she's owned up to her faults like for example when she called out Nicki Minaj on twitter because she thought she was subtweeting her about an award but then apologised and retracted PUBLICLY, she didn't play the victim. You're allowed to have your opinion and I respect it but just thought I'd throw my two cents in.
