Be patient with yourself as you learn how to cook over a fire. It is a skill that is perfected over time and practice. I needed to hear this again because I can get impatient and frustrated sometimes.

From S Africa and have camped and backpacked for many years. Your advise is good. As a retired medical microbiologist I believe the common fly causes more problems than people realise. One fly can cause a food poisoning outbreak. Keep food covered at all times and keep hands clean when cooking. Chopping boards, if not clean are another problem. Dirty hands are the cause of many hospital acquired infections. Have subscribed.

Excellent example of Preparation, Awareness, and Safety. As with many of your videos it demonstrates organization and a thoughtful approach that doesn't get in the way of the fun and enjoyment of camping, hiking, etc. Great for those new to camp cooking, and really good reminder for those who have been there and done that. Keep the good stuff coming.

... Always love your video's and tips ... We all learn best by making a mistake ,, hopefully only once .. To prevent soot buildup on campfire pots, coat the pot with dish soap first ,, almost all the soot will wipe off ,, can also wrap bottom /sides with aluminum foil .. Fire flames are for warming cold bodies and marshmallows ,, coals are for cooking over .......Thanks and Stay Safe ..

Not campfire related, but where is your shirt from?! Also, a video idea, "what's in my med kit". I'd love to see it to get some ideas!

Congratulations on 100K!! LOVE cast iron on the fire- there's just something special about it! Thank you for mentioning first aid- it's such as easy thing to overlook, but burns and cuts are super common injuries while camping and backpacking, and there's peace in knowing what to do if something happens.

Another good piece of advice, have some snacks out for the other people. No need to rush things because someone is hangry! (We like veggies, salsa and hummus.)

No. If you have food restrictions, especially ones you choose then you bring your own food. This might be a wild concept for you but it's not other people's job to cater to you.

Great Video Amanda, if I may add one more campfire caution.. watch what you wear around a live fire, manmade materials can become red hot shrink wrap in a millisecond.

Most of this is common sense.
@avaaragon5284
@avaaragon5284 2 ай бұрын
This may be common sense to someone who thinks black and white. This may not be common sense to some who has never experienced getting out/camping before. Lots of poor parent choices not a lot of guidance these days. Try to be more open minded to the situations around you that go unseen!

If you are an early planner like me (menu planned weeks in advance of a long trip), you may not be able to know the fire restrictions before you head out. Conditions may change, some times quickly. But you should DEFINATELY be checking this before you get to your location.

Thank you SO much for this valuable info! 2 questions…I see rocks are necessary around the fire, and a grill grate. Do you always carry your own in case the campsite does not have? Also, do you ever carry your own firewood? I see firewood for sale around my area often, and even some free from time to time. I started saving dryer lint to use as a starter..is this good? Such a good point about organizing the ingredients, down to the chopping! I don’t think this would be very easy outdoors! 🤗💯💓🏕

The meat thermometer is ridiculous..it shows you still haven't learn the fire yet. You still have not learnt what food looks like after you've cut it. People lived without thermometers since cooking started and still continue to do so without them..Nice Lava gloves lmao
