This movie was exactly what I wanted and I was not disappointed. The only people I’ve seen really upset by it are the people who didn’t understand the assignment and what the main story always was going to be - a love story between Eddie and Venom. It had the back and forth bickering dialogue, Venom pushing Eddie towards Anne since he thought he still wanted to be with her and then a massive break up all culminating in that beautiful ending of them finally acknowledging they need each other and that they (eek!) love each other. 10/10 will see twelve more times.

*SPOILERS I GUESS* The only things I disliked about this movie was Eddie having to say sorry to Venom when it was Venom's fault for attacking Cletus and allowing Cletus to bite Eddie so he gets a piece of the symbiote which like Eddie said Venom doesn't think about the consequences but some how it's all Eddie's fault. Then they for some reason try to make Cletus a sympathetic serial killer by saying "You didn't get the full story Eddie! Did you know that grandma, mom and daddy are all a bunch of abusive assholes!?" Then proceeds to talk to Eddie as he's being held by Venom "All I wanted was your friendship Eddie." I could be wrong since I don't read the comic books but all that just felt really wrong.

Almost all the disappointed commenters in reviews seem to focus on the PG rating. Like, it would have been SO much better if there would have been more blood and guts and violence. Yes more blood would have been better, but anyone waiting for a Marvel horror monster movies were waiting for a wrong thing. (The most horror thing has been the Hellstrom mini series, and they had to almost scrub the Marvel logo off it because of it.)
@alinazhidil98173 жыл бұрын
@@cesarsain3731 I saw people say that that Eddie and Venom already been through this in the first movie, and it highlights to me one of the things that I like so much about Venom - there is no magic solution. Eddie has its all in the beginning of the first one, then things go to shit, and you expect the hero to overcome it and be on top in the end. Except that Eddie is still broke and depressed, and he doesn't get the girl in the end. And he's still broke, depressed, and pining over his ex in this one. His relationship with a parasitic human eating alien living inside his body also take time to develop into a more accepting loving connection. And now they've been transported into the MCU movies that have zero consequences, and where all the problems resolve themselves instantly. Poor babies.

I had a good time with it regardless, but I think an extra 20 mins between Eddie escaping custody and Anne getting kidnapped would have benefitted the movie immensely (since as things are, Anne & Dan literally exit one scene and then immediately Anne gets kidnapped which felt weirdly paced)

I honestly loved this movie. The first one made me laugh and while I understand people's complaints, I enjoyed it greatly. That being said, I knew going into this movie that Carnage wasn't going to make it for another movie. The MCU has a bad habit of killing off their villains that were recurring in the comics. What would've better (in my opinion) is after Shriek got crushed by the bell, Cletus becomes too distraught and Carnage being too weak to continue the fight, they run off and go into hiding. Eluding to the possibility of Cletus/Carnage coming back for revenge, but before they do that Carnage has to buff up again. And how does he do that? By going on a good old fashion murder spree and the eating of people's heads. Or something to that effect. I am admittedly excited to see what they have in store for the new MCU multiverse mess

This movie has a dynamic between Cletus and Shriek in the same way as DCU’s Harley Quinn and Joker, before he emancipation. In that there is a romance between the two, unlike the comics were the romance is one sided to a compleat psychopath. It is a interesting look at the characters as Carnage has teamed with Shriek multiple times in the comics in a twisted family image. So the romance between the two didn’t bother me so much as the carnage Symbiote kinda being the third wheel and droning a wedge between it and Cletus.
@GreekJR23 жыл бұрын
The thing is in the comics the Carnage sybiote and Cletus Cassidy are basically the same person so they don't do the dual souls thing that Eddie and the Venom symbiote do. i really don't want an mcu-made venom movie and i'm hoping they're relegated to the multiverse stuff only and then go back to their universe. but in the first venom they reference eddie being ran out of NY so i assume they're going with the comic book story of spiderman fucking up eddie's story/career, so venom is interested because he know eddie's history with him? idk but i agree with this review. i think having shriek muddied the carnage plot a bit but i was in it for the eddie/venom romcom so i walked out pretty happy.

I kinda hope that when venom approaches spider man he ends up being caught and is separated into the symbiote and Eddie. Then the movie follows more of the perspective of the symbiote, which in order to find/rescue Eddie must bond to and assist Parker. And in the end, the symbiote, despite Parker being just as good a host, will choose to be venom with Eddie because 🖤 (and more freedom to murder).
@icedcapplord7103 жыл бұрын
I really hope the implications of that post credits scene means that Venom can actually be part of Disney's MCU films so we can get Black Suit with Tom Holland or symbiotes in general, especially with Gorr the God Butcher being the villain for Love and Thunder and his comics connection to Knull

Same. Tbh I don't care about the multiverse and whatever the other Marvel heros are doing. I'm just here for the vibes and the funny shit. Imo they could literally do that thing in the 2018 run of the comics where Eddie straight up becomes Symbiote god or sth. Or just put every Spiderman and Venom in one big clusterfuck of a movie who cares. I've never taken Marvel seriously and I sure as fuck won't start now.

The thing about Kassidy and Carnage relationship on the comics is that Cletus was just so out of it he completely took over the symbiote personality making them indistinguishable of each other and why Carnage still acts the same even if Cletus is currently dead so letting the symbiote had it's own personality was going to cause some rift between them which is interesting for them

They had the preview for the next Spiderman movie right before Venom 2 when I went to see it last night, so I think Venom probably will at least get a cameo in the Spiderman movie because it seems like it's really gonna go hard on the (possibly collapsing) multiverses, and there's a line in that trailer about how very little is known about how the multiverse functions and now that a spanner has been tossed into the works, who even knows. I also have to say that I am very glad that they didn't kill Anne. She's such a fun character, and an interesting contrast to Eddie because yah she probably still loves him but she also recognizes that they're a bad match and sets healthy boundaries and sticks to them (something we do NOT get enough of in movies). Also I am super tired of the girl/girlfriend/wife dying for man-pain. (and yes I realize Shriek also died, if she is dead, because a) we never saw the body, and b)that would be one heck of an enemy for Venom. But even if she did bite it, Cassidy got dead right after, so her death isn't just so that Cassidy can Feel Bad for five seconds.)
