I really think Evens needs to do some serious roles. He had a moment there with Knives Out and The Gray Man: both against type supporting roles; but, if he wants to be taken seriously post MCU he's gotta do what ScarJo and Sebastian Stan have done: take interesting, serious, non-action/ romcom roles. He didn't have the filmography of Mackie, Renner or Cumberbatch before the MCU. He doesn’t have the long-term reputation like Cheadle and Jackson; nor did he bank the *really* big bucks like RDJ. Evens is gonna end up in the same boat as Hemsworth: type cast for action if he doesn't manage his career better.

So mystery solved as to why Chris and Ana decided to make this movie. Plot twist, there is still one more mystery, why are there SIXTEEN producers on this movie? Seriously, why?
@m.s.6586 Жыл бұрын
Money. Actors and writers get paid upfront for a steamer movie, but if they are listed as a producer they can get residuals. In this case Ana producer credit is purely for extra money and credit. But the title Ghosted made me think that maybe this was a tongue in cheek reference to the 'Cap' character being a World War II era ghost, and a modern globetrotting spy being smitten with him over the time it takes her to get useful information from him, after the fun scenes of her realizing ghosts are real, of course. I was extremely disappointed this was what we got instead.

I really think this movie would have been great with Scarlett Johansson considering the organic chemistry between her and Evans (being longtime friends), i think she would have delivered Ana’s lines sooo much better.

Ana is so non-threatening and it makes believing her in action roles _terribly_ hard.

This movie was a frustrating slog. Everyone in it phoned it in - Not just the actors, director, and writers, but the cinematography, costumes, set designs, etc., were made in the same effort, which were zero. It feels like a forgotten '80s comedy flick that's just on the right spot of not being awful enough to be remembered.

Apparently the 'Mouse' hasn't really been letting actors even know what scenes they film for. I.e. Anthony Macky had no idea he filmed a scene for ant-man. There's a lot of shitty things about that but it's possible Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, and Scarlett Johanson wanted to work together outside of marvel abd have more fun. Or the studio has something on all of them

The best I've hoped for, from most streaming services, is a movie I can "let play out" while I do other stuff. Sadly, a lot of things the last few years can't even function as a tolerable background noise. "Ghosted" broke my apathy.

I truly wanted to like this movie because of so many reasons: • I love Chris Evans & Ana de Armas, they’re incredible actors and have great chemistry together (especially for being their 3rd movie together) • Dexter Fletcher is an amazing director. He made that beautiful Elton John biopic Rocketman and the very enjoyable Eddie the Eagle and, judging by the trailer, it looked like a very stylish flick • It had an interesting & funny premise that i thought perfectly balances spy action and comedy Instead, we have one of the biggest disappointments of this year: The chemistry between the leads is still there and the acting is good. But everything else felt like it was on autopilot and the direction felt subpar. It’s just spy cliche after spy cliche. Such a shame that they wasted so many talented actors and a great director here. They deserve better than this. Final Rating for Ghosted (2023): 4,5 out of 10

I'm skipping this movie on principle, and you kinda confirmed my suspicions: Chris Evans' character would be able to hold his own during actions sequences. If the roles were reversed, I'm sure they'd just let the woman be a damsel in distress/comic relief over the situation, maybe get one or two things to do that don't require real skill, just dumb luck. But men aren't allowed to not be good at action, esp if they look like Evans, regardless of how unrealistic it would be for the character 🙄
@mar.s6516 Жыл бұрын
Well yeah and they tryed to persuade us that Chris (in this movie) is awkward, insecure, clingy and asthmatic out of shape guy, who cant keep GF?? Damn did you seen him?? He was clearly badly miscasted from start for this role.
@grandempressvicky6387 Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but what do you mean by "men who look like Chris Evans aren't allowed to look good in action"? Do you mean the man who was the star of the biggest action superhero franchise for the past 10 years? Captain America? Johnny Storm for 4 movies? What about other dudes? Tom Cruze who plays every character as the super competent manly man, even with equally competent women in Edge of Tomorrow or Top Gun? Chris Pratt? Brandon Fraizer? Robert Downing? Tom Holland? Oscar Issac? Henry Cavil? Jackie Chan? Keanu Reeves?Robert Patterson in both TWILIGHT and Batman? And these are the big names. All of them have worked alongside equally competent female characters and characters that were damsels. Who are the men you are referring to? I am genuinely curious. Cos to me, it seems like male characters are NEVER allowed to be damsels. They must always be manly men. Evans in this movie along was more than capable of taking on trained spies/criminals/assassins and keep up with a CIA agent despite being an asthmatic farmer. It being goofy doesn't undermine that.
@32fps Жыл бұрын
@@grandempressvicky6387 Well, for starters, you didn't quote my actual comment so that's where your confusion is coming from; you read it wrong. I said "men aren't allowed to not be good at action, especially if they look like Evans" - by this I mean men in general, but *particularly* men who look like Evans, are almost always good/competent at fighting in films, despite the fact that the actual character wouldn't be. For example: take any male in your life who's average, even who keeps in shape and looks good, and ask them if they could hold their own against a trained assassin, hell, even just in a regular gun fight. Odds are they wouldn't be able to, because that is way beyond what the average person could manage without prior training. That's my entire point. His character SHOULDN'T be able to hold his own, yet he does, because the script says so.

Since I've been to London, the first thing I couldn't get my head around was the cab ride he took. Say he got in the cab from the airport (presumably Heathrow), they drive all the way to Westminster Bridge (Big Ben), and then he finally gets out carrying his luggage in front of Tower Bridge, putting him in either Whitechapel or Southwark. IE: he rode a cab all the way across the city to get out and walk around with his luggage. I could have told an AI that.
