"But why, Lestat? “ he asked a little suspiciously. "Why the danger, the risk? After all, you have done it. You have come back. You’re stronger than ever. You have the old fire as if it had never been lost, and you know how precious this is, this will simply to go on. Why risk it immediately? Have you forgotten what it was like when we had the world all around us, and no one could hurt us except ourselves? ” “Is this an offer, Louis? Have you come back to me, as lovers say?” His eyes darkened and he looked away from me. “I’m not mocking you, Louis,” I said. “You’ve come back to me, Lestat,” he said evenly, looking at me again. “When I heard the first whispers of you at Dracula’s Daughter, I felt something that I thought was gone forever- ” He paused. But I knew what he was talking about. He had already said it. -------- They're totally a thing

Out of all of Rice's vampires, Claudia was always my favorite. In real life, Rice had a daughter who died at a young age before she started writing novels. As for the music that Lestat hears, it's goth rock, of course. The 1980s was its golden era.

Loving the drunk reads❤️ Just wanted to point out that when Lestat woke up he found out about IWTV spilling the tea about him. He knew that was a big no no and punishable by death for Louis. Lestat decided to become a rockstar and have a huge concert take the heat off Louis who was an outcast and in hiding from the other vampires because of IWTV. Then Lestat wrote his own book to tell us all about it because who gonna check him boo 😂 Also, I think it’s already been said, but…Armand was mainly pissed because Lestat rejected him, again. Armand totally would’ve given Lestat blood if Lestat would’ve agreed to be with him.

"This is questionable at best." Something I can say about every (8) Anne Rice book I've read so far. The Keebler's tree took me out 🤣 I still had the mental image of the creepy tree from my memory of reading it, but this is better. Lestat can be annoying but his relationship drama is always entertaining, and he shares the gossip...overshares, even. Gabrielle? an icon, a legend, the baddest.

For my money, this was some of AR's best work. But, I gotta say Thank You. Your perspectives on this book have helped me to see some characters in a new light. I used to think that Nicky was the most loathsome creature in the TVC series. I blamed him for making us all suffer through the life of Louis (Nicky Light) Now, I can see that he and Lestat were just a pair of troubled kids who were shown too much truth at too young an age. That said, I do still blame him for Louis.

Spoilers. (Sidenote, please don't take any of what I'm saying as angry. I just sound that way. It's enthusiasm, not anger.) Lestat will get to a more specific response to Louie over 4 chapters, I think. It's probably in the last 6 chapters. Keep reading. Also, Lestat very much did explain how he became a rock star. Lestat went looking for those wolves after he was sent to protect the village because of his nobility.
@redchristmas Жыл бұрын
(More spoilers. Minor vague spoilers but spoilers none the less.) There you go! I couldn't agree more with that 1 characterization that I just heard you say in the video. 1 of Lestat's dominant personality traits for a while is to kick hornets nests .. aggressively .. to see what will happen. That's very accurate. However.. Armand doesn't hate Lestat, not really. Armand wasn't still mad about the old coven after the long 3-vampire-meeting in the tower. The old beef about Lestat's blasphemy was water under the bridge, and the other old beef about the old coven was just details after that. Armand said in IWTV and in TVL AFTER Lestat & Gabrielle spent that night in Magnus' & Lestat's tower with Armand when Armand gave Lestat, Gabrielle, and the audience our 1st glimpse into Armand's backstory that Lestat rejecting Armand was Armand's real beef with Lestat from then on. Armand confirms that multiple times in multiple chronicles after the fact. The old coven thing does come up as a point of contention from time to time, but it's most always brief when it does come up and it is completely dismissed afterward. It's water under the bridge. Armand wants Lestat like a puppy wants treats, but Lestat is disinterested & just a bit mean about it as A.R.vampires go. For a while at the beginning of the chronicles, Armand is more of a jilted stalker to Lestat than a true menace after the long talk in the tower. Armand's just being spiteful because of the rejection. Remember in TVL, Armand offered Lestat the blood that Lestat needed for recovery but it was a package deal that came with Armand too which Lestat promptly refused and knocked Armand off of a roof despite Lestat's injured state at fhe time. That's not the first or the last of that dynamic. Armand wants and needs to be someone's passionate submissive. Without Marius around or Armand's coven to rule in submission to that cult's dogma, Armand wanted his dom to be Lestat, but Lestat keeps rejecting him for the sake of doing so. I say for the sake of doing so because Lestat really does have feelings of affection and care for Armand and they grow over time but none of that ever stops Lestat from keeping Armand at a distance or outright rejecting him on occasion. Now that I think of it, it was a callous, inconsiderate way to treat him, given what the truth really was. Lestat also contradicts Armand whenever Armand tries to be a voice of reason to him, but that's later.

I just found your channel--and have been binge-listening to your videos--so good! I started reading these books when I was 11 so I actually didn't pick up on a lot of the biblical or homoerotic subtext in these books (at least not in the early books), but now that I've started to reread them as a 40 year old (so weird to be 40 now), there is this whole other side to them that I appreciate. The depth of their angst, their sorrow, their pain, their love... things that I didn't have much experience with yet as a child. I did read somewhere that Anne based Louie off of herself and Lestat off her husband, and Claudia after their daughter who died of leukemia at a young age. There are parts of the first book where Anne is literally describing through Louie her own personal grief she felt once her daughter died. That said, I am really enjoying rereading them and then listening to.your tipsy take on each book! :D

Your tipsy reviews of anne rice stuff? Pure serotonin, happiness, best thing i have ever watched. Not to sound cringe but ilu! Sending all ghe good vibes from Romania!❤❤❤❤❤❤ P.s I think Anne's lore around being turned into a vampire is quite good. A bit funny when everyone just has to... Purge their stomach contents, but it makes sense and I love that she added that. It's like when bodies are embalmed and contents have to be removed. Cause technically their digestion doesn't.... Work the same way after turning. And the blood cannot be wasted cause it needs to.... Animate them basically. So ofc the stomach is gonna basically need to... Mummify itself.

Just recently read this book! I loved it! I enjoyed Interview with the Vampire, but I was cracked up by how Louis was such an unreliable narrator! Of course, the same can probably be said about Lestat! It's like watching two KZbinrs tear into each other after each diss video! Lestat is far more likable, so even though you can tell he's playing with the facts, he's more entertaining. Lestat got the Dark Gift against his will, as well. But he has just accepted it and moved on. Louis' griping keeps annoying me. If he hates himself and his nature so much, just take a sunbath. One thing I like about these books is the fact that for the most part, not a lot of action is happening, but the facts are so engrossing that I just get enthralled and will read half a book in one sitting! And the facts that drop about halfway through each book just draw me in! Anne was really good at creating mystery and revealing secrets within the story and making them seem really powerful! Getting to find out about Akasha and Enkil was such a moment! The people behind the Queen of the Damned movie should REALLY have not tried to skip over this book! Everything in that story is way more impressive if you have read this book and have some preconceived notions going in. Oh, well. Maybe the new tv show will not try to blaze through the stories. Interview Season 1 was good, anyway. Nice video!

Spoilers. Lestat showed interest in women as a mortal and as a vampire. He was not gay. Probably, bi but not gay in mortal life. Stop trying to make them like humans. People can be a variety of things, that's true, but these characters are not normal humans anymore. They aren't gay people or straight people because they aren't people. These are mutated monster creatures, a.k.a. vampires. They are a different thing than humans. They are creatures & monsters. As vampires, their nature to a degree is alien to humanity. Regardles of AMC trying to make a gay romance out of Lestat & Louie, these are their own thing. As a vampire, they, as in most of them, show no preference for either sex they just respond to both. That's pretty much true for every character in the chronicles, BUT it's the least true for Armand. Armand showed interest in both sexes, too, as a mortal and a vampire, but it's not an even split. Armand, as a mortal and as a vampire, shows a very clear preference for same sex attraction. If you want to lean into 1 of the vampires being gay, it's Armand .. by far. I hope that didn't come across as angry, it's not. It's just enthusiastic.

Just found you and subscribed. You are great at telling the stories and so funny while you do it. Supernatural and Syfi are my favs, but i freely admit i like some smut in my books. 50 shades of Grey anyone? I am sharing a recommendation below. If that series is too long for your channel, that same author has a much shorter series called Merry Gentry, all about the fey world and there are no fairytale fairys. Laurell K Hamilton has a series of 30 books that follow Anita Blake Vampire Hunter. This series has vampires, shifters, ghosts, etc. It follows Anita Blake who is a nice girl whose job is to raise the dead so wills can be made, etc. Anita changes over the years and becomes more powerful as she becomes more involved in the vampire world and first the wolf shifters, then all kinds of shifters and ancient suppernatural beings. As things progress the books end up with a lot of sex, because supernatural shit happens and Anita feeds off of sex. Twisty and strange, but everything gets explained so you are not left hanging. First book Anita is celibate and hates vampires, and ends up hunting them. By book 30 she is a sexed up, powerful hunter with a ton of supernatural powers and she no longer sees good and evil as black and white. She lives in a gray world and is going to marry the head vampire of the US. My collection is large cuz I have always been a reader. I am now 62 and still reading smutty supernatural.....no Harlequin Romance for me!!😊😂❤

Armand was not "conscripted" into "an empire." That's what you call that?
