applesandamandas couldn't agree more. Seeing how most youtubers quit chasing after their career goals for youtube isn't exactly motivational to watch. Not trying to shame or judge because as long as they're happy, it's not my business and it's all that matters. However, watching you actually go through the journey of partaking in the medical field inspires me to do the same. You stuck with your goal and continue to thrive with it, expanding your knowledge while saving lives. This is the type of person i hope to become. Ty and ❤️ u 😊 hopefully I'll be on the medical track soon, just like you(:

love seeing you working as a RD while also being vegan! i know you've mentioned before that you cant always recommend going plant based to all your patients cause its obviously a case by case situation and you need to find what works best for them but i like seeing that you try to promote more plant based options! my dad just had open heart surgery and when they were talking with my mom about him needing to adopted a heart healthy diet she said that my brother and i wanted him to go vegan (which yes we'd love but my parents arent in good health and honestly all i want is for them to eat cleaner and get healthier cause tbh im incredibly scared for them) but after my mom mentioned vegan, the dietitian immediately shut her down and was saying that no one can be healthy on a vegan diet and it was honestly very discouraging to hear that she said that cause i know its made my dad conflicted on how to feel cause he had recently started to incorporate more plant based foods into his diet regularly :(( i know theyre gonna look around to hopefully find someone that can help them figure out a good diet for him and i hope they offer at least some plant based options for him cause i know hes curious about it! but enough about my family! i just wanted to say, ive been following you since you moved back to California from Boston (i think it was boston??) and its been so amazing to see you go from a college student in a dorm to working as an RD and i just wanted to let you know im very proud of you! youre gonna do amazing things amanda!

@@amandavsevilla Currently I am studying environmental science, but I've had a strong interest in nutrition growing up and still do. I was considering changing my major to dietetics, but was told by a counselor that only 1/2 of students get an internship. I am not a bad student, but that does worry me since my first year of college was my worst year I have ever had academically. I was working full time with school and taking care of my grandpa (+ other things in my personal life). I also have noticed that where I live (though I'm somewhat open to moving after graduation) there are very few openings for dietitians. Presently I see myself continuing with environmental science and hopefully working in outreach, utilizing writing and design to educate the public.

I have low BMI and after my weight loss my hair started failling I have low vitamin d and low ferretin what should I do any suggestions...PLZZ tell me..
@dianashostak72935 жыл бұрын
Sonal Chauhan this all kind of depends on how you’re eating. If you’re not vegan you could drink milk fortified with vitamin D, and do you mean you have low keratin? If so you could try taking hair and nail supplements, you could usually find a supplement that’s specifically for hair, skin, and nails. I would also say make sure you’re eating enough calories, especially fruits and vegetables. Hope this helps!
@jllum5 жыл бұрын
@@dianashostak7293 I think this person means low ferritin, as in low iron levels, which isn't uncommon when one isn't eating enough in general.
@marcellenaceja35855 жыл бұрын
Make sure you are eating enough calories. If you aren't getting enough sunlight everyday, you could just take vitamin D supplements (I take My Kind vitamin D personally, because I live in a cloudy area). Vitamin D is a common deficiency. For low ferratin, which means low iron, try eating foods high in iron like spinach, beans, etc. or iron-fortified foods. Pair iron rich foods with vitamin C rich foods also. This helps with absorption. Avoid pairing iron rich foods with calcium rich foods, as well as coffee or tea, because this can inhibit absorption of iron. You could also take a supplement for iron as well.

Hey Amanda! Great video! Thank you for talking about your life as a dietitian! I do have a couple questions about the case study. When you were talking to that patient, did it seem like she "wanted" to get better? (Does that make sense?) I understand that patients who come in in an "altered state" of mind, or health, a lot of the time could exhibit anorexic eating/day to day patterns? Also! Can you, as a dietitian, basically tell the doctor or nurse, that the patient you are working with has something like IBD or ulceritive colitis, etc.? Thank you! These are super interesting to watch (:
@amandavsevilla5 жыл бұрын
Hey megan! thank for watching me blabber about my profession haha. with that patient, yes, she wanted to get better but didn’t feel good enough to eat but wanted to... if that makes sense. I could express my concerns to the drs and nurses but I can’t make an official diagnosis. generally if an RD can catch something like that, then it would obviously be IBD/ulcerative colitis and the professional team would look more into it.
