yes Tish, you are quite observant and piecing it together quite well indeed. The Indian filmmakers did watch Hollywood very seriously those days. Kishore Kumar's yoddle he picked from an American singer. Look at the clothes worn even by the extras you do not see repetition - the tux and all that. As is the interiors and of course the impeccable timing of Amitabh even way back then. Yes, the dance Willy Wonka you are right. Did you know that an actor called Dev Anand (an icon of Indian cinema) used to be called the Gregory Peck of India (catch a pic of him on Google and look at his nose, lips and hair style - eyes don't match as Peck had that wide forehead and typical piercing eyes). professor seems to be watching the girls more - she is Parveen Babi the actress very good looking - check out Zeenat Aman who won a beauty show in New York and was quickly spotted by none other than Dev Anand.

That high-pitched toodle is usually referred to as yodeling and only Kishore Kumar is successful in using it in Indian cinema. 420 is reference to IPC420 which is for cheating/fraud, here it's reference also to his movie coolie where in he's a porter(coolie in hindi) with the no 420..

Parveen Babi the actress in the song was (probably still is) the only Indian actor ever to appear on the cover of Time magazine. Btw, rightly pointed out by others, 420 is a section in the Indian Penal Code for fraud. The reference here is meant to be rather light-hearted. He figuratively refers to himself as a loveable fraud 😄 Amitabh Bachchan sings but he isn’t singing here. The playback is by the famous and versatile Kishore Kumar (himself an actor, writer, producer and director) who lent his voice to Amitabh Bachchan in almost all his films in the ‘70s and early ‘80s.

Parveen Babi and Zeenat Aman were the most glamorous and beautiful actresses, MashaAllah, and Amitabh pairing with them was the best. Sadly Parveen Babi passed away. It would have been nice if you understood the lyrics. They were some feel messages in there. Playback singing was mostly done by playback singers and the parts were one had to talk the actors participated with their own voice. Amitabh though has done some singing too in some movies

Big B has said the English jibberish line “coefficient of the linear” etc.. and it’s impossible to figure out the difference. Big B is not considered a great dancer like the Khans or Hrithik Roshan but his facial expressions are just out of this world. He dances like a common man and his dancing style is the most imitated one by general public. You may want to research a bit about the 5 gems of Indian playback singing :- Lata Mangeshkar Asha Bhosle Kishore Kumar Mohammad Rafi Mukesh. Movie Community College Kishore Kumar was the voice of Big B in most of earlier films. Big B sang only very few songs . “Rang barse bheege chunar wali “ is the most famous song sung by Big B. Be warned that it’s a song full of double entendres as is the norm for songs for the color festival Holi. In fact the song is about an extra marital affair. Once Kishore Kumar passed away, people realized how difficult it is to sing for Big B because Big B has a baritone while most singers have a soft voice. Initially Sudesh bhosle sang few of Big Bs songs like Jumma Chumma but he was a good mimic at best. So he was unable to sing moody emotional songs that well. That’s why directors and composers now prefer Big B to sing his own songs as that is way better than Sudesh Bhosle and because other singers voice don’t suit Big B. While Big B cannot be as good a singer as Kishore Kumar, he has proven to be a very good performer.

Hello, this is Tish! I love Big B's voice - but that won't surprise you :) The first time I noticed that it was actually him singing was while watching "Bhoothnath". That was one of the first Indian films I'd ever seen and I picked it on purpose because I knew Big B was in it. Because I was so new to Indian films, I was unaware that Big B could sing and dance - I only knew him at that point from "Piku" and other newer films! He is a phenomenal performer because he can do it all. He really is India's national treasure! I have seen the video of him singing "Rang Barse Bheege Chunar Wali". As I said, I love his voice!

The number 420 actually refers to the IPC (indian penal code) under which police books a conman or cheat or fraud. Its the exact legal code under which a the person is charged and booked. The number itself has hence become synonymous with a cheat or two-timers..hehehe. Hope that clears that.
