I was in Soviet Union in 1986 just 4 years after it's release. In India this song had already broken many records of popularity and had gone off the boil. I never expected to hear this song in Soviet Union. I was surprised to hear this song in the very first restaurant I visited. I stayed in Russia for 6 months. Where ever I went this song was repeatedly heard. Along with it an other iconic song, "Jimmy Jimmy 'from the same movie was even more popular. We visited one children school even there children were merrily dancing on these beats. Event today I see these song being sung in realty shows world over. An year ago artist were performing on these tracks in China. Amazing how few catchy tunes can bring the word together. Few days back these songs were played in Central Asian ambassy function in India. Crazy stuff indeed. Mithun Chakraverty, the actor and music director Buppy lahiri went on to become legend and are still very popular.

People who grew up in USSR and Africa in the 80s hold this movie close their hearts, and sing all the songs. Bollywood’s Disco era of music was huge in these countries. It had a beautiful song about racial harmony that everyone in world, no matter who could related to. MIA sampled another song from this movie called “Jimmy Jimmy”. The music director of this film Mr. Bappi Lahiri was a huge Michael Jackson fan and even dressed like him. You can see the Jackson’s Destiny tour influence. @@pitco Mithun was actually a dancer. When He was in Kolkata in early 70s he used to watch Russian ballet and american dancer Elvis Presley's dance in globe cinema hall in Kolkata. He learnt classical dance from a teacher of Kolkata to perform a theater in1972. It was his first stage performance as a dancer . After Mithun Chakraborty there are many Indian actors like Cheeranjivi in South Indian movie industry and Govinda of Bollywood showed interest to learn dance and became better dancer than Mithun Chakraborty. But it doesn't proof Mithun Chakraborty can't dance .
