Her mom is bitter because of what Amara’s father did to her, so she thinks she’s protecting her daughter…but really it’s her bitterness acting that way. I know because I’m Haitian-American and my sister and I have sacrificed our lives to take care of our mom. However, we all had a talk that it’s time for her to focus on retirement and disability and being home with the grandkids and she finally understand as I’m living my own life and my sister agreed to keep her with her instead of a nursing home. When you chose to have kids, you can’t keep reminding them all that you sacrificed for them-you chose to bring them into the world so that’s the price. But the boyfriend was a complete asshole and worse than Shay’s brother 😳. I get him being upset as any man would be-but he’s not her husband so he doesn’t get a say in these matters between her and her mother.
