proud pagan demonitisation by definition stands for depriving a status as money that can be translated to phasing out a denomination of currency, it is so in practice as well. Considering that the uber-rich try to evade taxes by dumping their loot in Swiss Banks or in real estate, with little of their wealth in the land to go after, so what demonitisation effectively did was change the denomination but not the middle man conducting all the briberies. So the only people who suffered were the honest tax paying citizens. Changing denominations doesn't end corruption, people can find a way to misappropriate any kind of currency, corruption requires systemic changes which is a highly technical matter and if you're putting 12th fail bimbo in the education ministry and a lawyer as the head of the finance ministry you clearly don't have any technical accumen. Being brave doesn't equate to being smart.

Largest Mobile Factory in Noida is also a conspiracy? Huge Xioami plant is also a conspiracy. The changes in indian laws and procedures to allow ease of doing business and 100% FDI is also conspiracy? 40 m0re mobile companies are now setting up or already started manufacturing or assembling in india, all conspiracy? I know what you'll say, it is only assembly, not really manufacturing, but then that is still a huge step, manufacturing always starts with assembly and then if policies and enviorenment is conducive to business and manufacturing then parts manufactureres also come in. Remember how maruti started, it too was only assembly only at first with 90% parts being imported. The 30Km per day roads and the rail freight corridoors are also just conspiracy. All you anti Modi India haters ahve are word like jumla and feku, no real substance

How could someone interrupt a Nobel Laureate when he is speaking? No civilized person would have even thought to disturb a man of his stature before he finishes.... Whatever was his point he should have said after he finishes... We all are here to listen both... The anchor should have send Mr Rajiv Kumar a stronger message that he is interrupting a Legend... I know he is from Oxford but he has no right to interrupt Mr Sen the way he did.... Nope!

Arko Talukder There is NO Nobel prize for economics, Alfred Nobel left a fortune in his Will to be used for physics, chemistry, medicine/physiology (sciences) and also for peace and literature.. The Royal Swedish central Bank perpetuates AF's memory with a Memorial prize by providing money for people srlected to have made contributions for , economics (while those for literature and peace (non-sciences) though , instited by Nobel himself often become controversial as being motivated by geopolitical considerations.) The Bank's Memorial prize is given away on the same occasion as the Nobel prizes which may be presumed is for minimising expenditure for organising the ceremony.

I suppose the thinkers would say theories are the wonderful thing but then again in real life what do theories prove.....nothing!!! Amartya Sen is great but only with words, what has he done in terms of administration for the Indian Nation. In all these 50 odd yrs that he has been a wonderful scholar but how about taking the responsibilities and shaping the Indian economy when it was needed. Should have lent his knowhow in the early 60s and 70s and the economy of the country would have been in a much better position today!!!! Where was he and the likes of him, who do all the criticizing as according to the sympathy of politicians or parties of the moment, or maybe getting orders from other nations to speak negatively each and everytime about the Indian Nation????!!!!

Sen makes a charge that Modi's hard work is ill directed/done due to his intellectual deficit, in other words. That is a serious charge but ill-considered since demonetisation hangs like a Damoceles' sword above future big time financial criminals. What more effective alternative does Sen hav, for minimising black money and related finsncial crimes that are common across the world but are even more crucially important for economically developing countries - with India as the foremost one - than the advanced capitalist ones? Is it not true that many cotporates in the latter are guilty of gross wrong-doing to evade taxes as a means to conserve capital for growth? Lessons - in concepts, methods and administration of demonetisation through experience - are learnt and used in future. It is very true that methods of black money, money laundering and other financial crimes have been perfected and made a way of life, and defended by our accounting and legal professions even as related laws are being amended every so often to challenge if not outwit the antisocials. In many countries. But India has to grow in a free for all ( multiparty electoral) democratic environment with pervasive corrupyion -- most notoriously in politics, business and administration -- with a one billion plus population including a large proportion, both below and above poverty line, suffering without water and electricity - two necessaries of life. Do Harvard economists have any real idea of this very special footing of Indian economy ? But yes, there has been some collateral damage, the lessons about which which can be used in the event of a future repeat being necessitated. Mr Modi's hard work and intellect, and uncorript character with a strong hand for use if unavoidable - as never witnessed in Free India - also have the benefit of his dedicated band of ministers and party colleagues. Harvard economics is believed to be increasingly experience- and observation- based and is becoming reliable in application especially as some of the great civilizations of the East teach us the glory of hard work and collective consciousness of nations for united and hard work with objectives rather than vaguely stated ideologies.none of which standing up to the challenges of changing times. Arm-chair formulations of political and social theories are naturally getting out of the way of the furtherance of practical economics to suit the times even as great technological revolutions in automatiin and telecommunication and other fields are placing highly effective solutions to ensure no one goes without a single meal and some modicum of comfortable life. It is diubtful economics and politics can solve the problems. They create more problems than those they (imagine can) solve.
