Amazfit GTS Review - Is this the Successor to the Bip!?

Good review. I am definitely a square watch guy, Bip owner, and my GTS is on the way. The round smartwatch is a sop to an era in which technology necessitated a mechanical metaphor (hands turning around a circular dial) for a reference to an actual time expressed in digital terms. The modern watch OTOH is an information and media control device for which a rectangular display is vastly more apt. I'm also big on battery life. Seven days is a minimum acceptable battery life, IMHO--charge that sucker once a week. I can't fathom those who spend hundreds of dollars on a *watch* they have to charge every night. I own a WearOS watch that I love, but for the deal-breaking 24-hour battery. Also, I once demanded my watch store and play its own music and have its own bluetooth. In practical use I have found this to be far more hassle (in terms of bluetooth and media management) than it is worth. The GTS looks like the watch for me, at least given the current state of technology.

The funniest thing was seeing the box which has GTR in huge letters across it with a shop sticker reading GTS! 😂 I was going to tell them but I'm in love with this GTR. Looks lovely and the build quality really is something especially compared to my Bip.

Karl Flaschke How is the connection from the app to your watch. Mine is drowning the battery of my iPhone. And often I am kicked out of the Amazfit app and have to login again and connect my gts again (and lose the data on the watch). Do you have this?

Also i gonna use it for daily life so it would great to get notifications frim meesenger etc. Also battery life is important. What would you choose? Amazfit gts or garmin vivoactive 3?

Morning Stu, loving the video - the cinematography, using the fire when doing the close-up shots of the watch is great! I might pick one of these up, I need to replace my MI Band 4 which has been hopeless (plagued with the issue of the capacitive home/back button only responding when it feels like it, which is a common complaint). For £100 or so, it seems a pretty decent deal. . Also - Gearbest - I've had the same issues (and what is the "ship this to me faster" button about?) I'm done with them too. Hope you are well! Cheers for the review, after 14 months worth of showers and spas my Bip succumbed to a couple of tame dips in a river :( nothing competes with the Bips transreflective display.. so I've just ordered a GTS. See how it goes.

Another great review. It encouraged me to dig out my Bip that I haven't worn in a while. I seriously considered getting the GTS from Amazon and whilst hovering over the buy button I noticed that an update to the Bip bricked the poor thing before my eyes. Put me right off. Good news though. I picked up a Ticwatch E2 for £65 brand new from eBay so a happy ending. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻

Square aren't normal timepieces? Casio would beg to differ. I actually have this in black and bought it due to your review. :) now, I only need to get a decent leather strap for it. The amoled display and long battery life is as good as it gets.

had this watch (gts) now for 9 months however although i still use it i find i get duplicate notifications sometimes 3 or 4 of same thing (i did contact the manufactures but was never resolved). Also the instructions on phone app usage ( new zepp app) are not very good i have searched quite a lot for decent set up data. overall i find this watch good stylish but very disappointing due to lack of instructions. it maybe just me though

Great review! You did extremely well not to mention the iwatch at all, unlike every other review on KZbin about this watch. I brought this before it was available the UK via a Spanish site. It truly is a great watch, I wanted a watch that, admittedly looked like an iwatch without the whole call and text reply functions because I personally think you look a bit stupid using a watch as a phone. The exercise features are amazing and I use it everyday as my work watch to count steps. GPS has notably been slated on every review I've seen but it doesn't bother me one bit as I don't use. Lastly the latest update which brings custom watch faces in which you can use your own pictures from your phone is amazing. I love it! Cheap, small, light and unbelievably cool...

The GTS has a standardised watch fit, so any watch strap (with the correct size) will fit, whether it has a QR system or not 👍

Not long received the gts, purchased due to apple watch died. So far I've found the gts just as good. Yes a few things I would like to see and do. Like reply to sms via the watch and to accept microsoft authentication app messages. For £110 I am not complaining. PS nice review

Hi Stu, I subscribed when you did the video on the BIP. I would love to see a more in depth comparison on how this handles notifications compared to the BIP. In particular, when a message first pops up on the BIP, you can scroll down and read more straight away whereas you can’t on other devices such as the stratos. Can you do the same on this GTS?
